Saving for your summer holiday? Try some of these money saving tips

It’s always so exciting when Summer finally rolls around again. We have the beautiful weather, long summer days out with the family, summer parties, BBQs and cookouts, not to mention days filled with adventures and lots of memories being made. Many of us also look forward to our summer holidays!

Whether you’ve been planning your annual holiday since last year, or you’re still wondering what destination to choose, getting away from it all for a week or two is simply wonderful for the whole family. However, family holidays aren’t always budget-friendly, and it would be wonderful if a distant relative would suddenly appear and bequeath all their riches and investments to you – for the latest investment pieces check out Golden Eagle Coin -  but don’t worry – as I’ve found 4 money saving tips that can help you save towards funding your family break or saving for spending money!
Stop before you shop
When I was a kid, my mum would always take us along on a special trip to buy new summer clothes, just for our holiday. However, if you’re on a tight budget then you might want to reconsider. Before you head to the shops, go through every wardrobe, closet, and cupboard and see what you already have. Things like sunhats, sunglasses, shorts, and t-shirts can easily get lost in wardrobes that are full of bulky winter wear. So, go through what you already have before you go out and unknowingly waste money duplicating items you already have! Don’t forget, there’s nothing wrong with hand-me-downs too!
Do things that are free!
Summer is here so you’ll want to be spending your days out with the family and enjoying time together. However, days out to places like swimming pools, theme parks, zoos, etc can be expensive and that’s before you consider paying for transport and even food and drink. Instead, opt for days out that are 100% free. Local museums, walks through places of natural beauty, or even head to the library to see what activities or shows they have on during the summer months. Take a picnic with you and you won’t need to spend any money on expensive food and drink!
Sell, sell, sell
Old bric-a-brac, electronics, furniture, rugs, toys, old clothes – anything that you no longer have use for can be potentially sold online or at a yard sale. With all the profits going towards your holiday. Even if you’re struggling to find anything to sell, a good clear out will make you feel better anyway!
Be wary of subscriptions
There’s a lot of good TV out there. But that also means lots of different subscriptions to various streaming services as well as paying for a regular TV package. Decide which subscriptions you’re happy to let go of and put the money you’re saving directly into your holiday fund. You can subscribe again once your holiday is over – think of all that TV you can catch up on during the winter months!
