My childhood is coming back to me in the most amazing way. I am thrilled to join the celebration as Disney's The Little Mermaid celebrates its 30th anniversary! Wow! I still remember when The Little Mermaid was brand new, and then watching it again and again once it came out on VHS. My mom and dad still have our original copy of the movie on VHS at their house, and I am so excited to be able to add The Little Mermaid 30th Anniversary Edition to our family Bluray/DVD/Digital collection.
Now Ariel and Friends can be Part of Your World Again and Again!
As much as Ariel wanted to be part of our world thirty years ago, I wanted to be part of her world when I was little. I had tons of The Little Mermaid toys, books, and more. Most memorable are my beach towel (still at my parents' house) and my piano book with all of the original music from the movie.
This is the story we read 10+ times a day!
When my daughter started expressing an interest in Disney Princesses a year ago, I hoped that she would discover a love for Ariel and all of her friends. When we visited Disney World a couple of summers ago, S wore an Ariel outfit, and we had the best time on the Under the Sea ride at the Magic Kingdom. Now that S is turning three years old, she loves Ariel! We have dolls, books, clothes, and of course, The Little Mermaid movie to watch over and over again!
I have a feeling that next year, we'll be hosting a Little Mermaid birthday party, too, but for now, we'll enjoy all the fun of adventures under the sea through the wonderful, newly released anniversary edition of our favorite Disney movie!
Bringing my favorite Disney movie home deserved a watch party like no other!
I was so excited to share The Little Mermaid with S. I have been waiting for her to be old enough to handle watching it, and last week, we snuggled up with her Ariel doll, Flounder, and some delicious cupcakes and tucked into the movie.
The Little Mermaid 30th Anniversary Edition is amazing. It looks beautiful, and it's just as fun and exciting as I remember it being when I was a little girl. S and I watched with wonder as Ariel discovered her longing for the human world, and fell in love with Prince Eric. The relationship between Ariel and Kind Triton is one that probably all fathers and daughters can relate to. I think I relate to Ariel most of all out of all of the Disney Princesses because there are so many similarities between us.
Everything about The Little Mermaid is enchanting from the music to the characters and the story. For S, she discovered early on that Ursula was bad, and also scary. We wound up fast forwarding through the end of the movie until the fairy tale ending occurs because Ursula had S hiding in my shirt. It's to be expected, though. Ursula is pretty scary, especially at the end of the movie.
This movie will always have a special place in my heart and I can't wait for S to grow into loving this story even more! If you don't already have a copy of the movie, I would definitely encourage you to add the 30th Anniversary Edition of The Little Mermaid to your movie collection. Having the digital copy makes it easy to watch Ariel and friends on the go, which is always a plus for us, especially with the spring and summer travel seasons upon us!
