How To Reward Staff & Keep Morale High

No business can succeed if the staff does not feel appreciated as this can have a negative impact on morale and productivity. It is for this reason why it is so important to look after your staff and show your appreciation throughout the year. This should be through regular positive feedback, but it can also be helpful to provide rewards from time to time, as this is how you show that you care and value their hard work. Unfortunately, this is often overlooked by employers which can lead to an inefficient operation and high staff turnover. Read on for a few ways that you can keep morale high.

Staff Parties

Throwing a staff party can be beneficial in a number of different ways. It can show that you value the hard work of your staff, encourage employees to bond outside of working hours and create a strong sense of teamwork. It is normal to arrange a Christmas Party, for example, so you may want to consider hosting a spontaneous party to thank them for their hard work. This could be a party in the office, or you could hire a venue elsewhere. Alternatively, team nights out where you go for dinner and a few drinks can have a similar effect.

Bonuses

It can be nice to encourage the team to spend quality time together to keep morale high, but one of the most effective ways is through a cash bonus. Money is, after all, the driving factor for your employees to come into work each day, so putting a little extra in their paychecks after completing a project, or after targets have been met is sure to be highly appreciated. This will encourage them to continue working hard.

Time Off

If the team has been working particularly hard for a long time or putting in extra hours in order to complete a project or make a deadline, then it can be a nice touch to reward them with time off. In addition to enabling them to spend time how they wish, this is also important because it will allow them to relax and recharge their batteries so that they can return to work feeling energized and ready to be productive. If it is not feasible for them to have a day or two off, you could let them finish early or have a late start instead.

Tickets

Going to a live entertainment event can also be a great reward and a good way for the team to bond outside of the office. This could be a concert, theatre production, sports fixture or any other live event that you could all attend together. Keep your eyes peeled for a ticket sale, and you could manage to do this without breaking the bank.

Every employer needs to consider ways in which they can boost morale and show employees that they value their hard work. This is vital in order to keep employees happy and motivated, but also because this will create a positive working atmosphere which everyone can benefit from. There are many different ways that you can achieve this, and it should be considered on a regular basis, particularly after a big project or an extended period of hard work.
