Best Family Friendly Mexican Vacation Destinations

If you are looking for a great family vacation destination, be sure to consider Mexico.  It is truly a place that has something for everyone. Mexico boasts stunning beaches, awe-inspiring nature, and a unique and enjoyable culture.  Mexico is also a quick plane ride away from almost anywhere in the United States. Here is a list of the top Mexican getaway spots for your family to enjoy.

If you are looking for a plethora of family-friendly resorts that feature everything like water parks, kid’s clubs, and lots of entertainment, Cancun might be your best bet.  While they are known as a popular spring break destination they have plenty of things to do with the whole family.
Cancun has some great beaches.  They are stunning with the bright blue water and white sand.  They offer plenty of shade and a lot of them even have restrooms and other amenities that will make beach going with the littles a bit easier.  Some beaches have great waves for the older kids while others are a bit more shallow, perfect for the smaller one.
Cancun has excellent weather.  It is a great place to visit in winter, spring, summer, or fall.  You can go to Cancun and enjoy the great outdoors any day of the year.
While the actual city of Cancun may not be the most exciting place for culture, you can take some great day trips that will allow you to see plenty of history.  Book a tour and have a driver take you to see the famous Chichen Itza or other well-known archaeological sites. You will also catch some amazing views of the Caribbean.
There are some great eco parks in Cancun such as XelHa, Xplor, and many others that offer access to some beautiful wildlife and Mexican culture.  Some of them even have zip lining and places to snorkel.

Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is a great place to visit, especially if you are on the west coast.  It has beautiful beaches, awesome family-friendly hotels, and is a great city with an authentic Mexican vibe.
Puerto Vallarta is known for its great food. They offer some great food tours that will interest even your children.  It is very fun to visit some of Puerto Vallarta’s outdoor food markets. Their farmer’s market is held on Saturdays. It is worth the trip to see the amazing food and locally made crafts that are produced right near the city.  It is definitely an experience.
Puerto Vallarta has some great sea life that you can experience.  There are many tours that allow you to swim with dolphins or to get close to sea lions.  You and your family will learn about the animals, their diets, and how to care for the beautiful creatures.
Your entire family will love The Malecon.  It is a mile-long strip right on the water that is fun to bike or walk.  It has tons of shops and restaurants. You will even see street performers that are super fun to watch.

Cabo San Lucas
While Cabo San Lucas is synonymous with tequila there are plenty of family friendly activities to partake in that have nothing to do with alcohol.  It is an easy, quick flight from the west coast that will be sure to give you a family vacation to remember.
There are some great resorts right on the beach in Cabo.  They offer great pools, water slides, kids activities, and even some fun classes to immerse you in Mexican culture.
Cabo also has some awesome kayaking and snorkeling.  If you are scuba certified, Cabo offers some of the best.  If you are looking for something a little more relaxed take a kayak around the Sea of Cortez or even hire a boat guide for the day.  The birds, fish, and rocks are stunning.
Only a half an hour away on the Mexican hill, you will find a great place to have an outdoor adventure with your entire family.  There are zip lines, large climbing walls, and rock repelling. You will be guided by knowledgeable staff that ensures a safe but fun experience.  They offer shuttles from the beach resorts so you do not have to rent a car to participate in the fun.

Playa del Carmen
If you are looking to visit someplace a little less popular, consider Playa del Carmen.  It is only about 90 minutes away from Cancun but offers a more laid-back feeling.
Playa del Carmen has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.  It boasts crystal clear turquoise ocean water and white beaches. They are great for kids of all ages due to the shallow waters and low tides.
Since Playa del Carmen is so small it is very easy to get around.  You and your family can usually walk anywhere you need to go.
Playa del Carmen is close to many ruins that will excite even your toughest critic.  Be sure to hire a local guide that will explain and teach you about the ruins, how old they are, and about the ancient Mayan people’s customs and traditions.  Cabs can be quite expensive so it may be wise to rent a car to get to some of the ruins a bit further away.
Make sure you stroll down Quina Venida.  It is a cobblestone street right downtown.  Located just about a block from the ocean it has some amazing restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and great shops.  Be sure to look for the snake show and other street performers. It is best to do this in the morning with kids because at night it can get a little crazy.
You may want to check out Dolphin Discovery while visiting Playa del Carmen.  It is a must-see for many families. You and your kids can pet and even swim with dolphins.  The dolphins will even lightly push on the soles of your feet, pushing you to the surface. It will be an experience to remember for all!
A Mexican vacation with Enjoy Mexico will definitely be a vacation to remember.  All of these places have beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants, and great cultural experiences.
