Today marks the observance of World Cancer Day. World Cancer Day is a day observed to raise awareness and education about cancer. Cancer is a scary word, a terrible illness, and is unbiased in who is affected.
World Cancer Day was established in 2000 by the Paris Charter at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium in Paris seeking to promote research for a cure, prevention, and services that can assist in helping those affected (According to wincalendar.com).
From a large family, cancer has been a predominant killer of many. I find that being educated on the risks, tests for, and prevention of said risks are important to know. We have seen celebrities decide on radical mastectomies, hysterectomies, and simply get tested for the genetic mutation that may cause the disease.
