We started off the day with a book reading at my hometown library. It gave me the opportunity to see the city in a way that I haven't in years. There is a history there, a beauty that comes from the uniqueness of the building.
This is the first bank that opened bearing the city's name... Savings Bank of Danbury. I hold all of my accounts here and have never seen this building.
Although, inactive now, this was the way banks sounded an alarm if their vault was disturbed. The alarm would sound throughout the streets alerting the police and those walking by.
This once held the public library, but the name was never removed.
What history have you seen in your hometown? What makes you proud to live there or visit once you left?
