If doing more travelling wasn’t on your list of resolutions this year- it should have been! Travelling is an amazing way for the whole family to learn more about different cultures and ways of life. Unfortunately it can be an incredibly stressful time. Packing, passports, and planes are sometimes a recipe for disaster. Holidays should be a time to rest and relax away from the stresses of everyday life. If you want to get your travels off to a smooth start have a read of our guide to stress-free travel…
Accessories
It may sound like a completely unnecessary extra cost, but invest in some travel accessories. Trust me, these handy little tools really will make your life easier at the airport. Rummaging around your bags for passports is a sure fire way to make yourself frantic! Kit yourself out with a travel bag. It’s a great way to keep all your documents secure and to hand for inspections. Another useful travel accessory is a neck pillow. These are especially good for children. It can be difficult to get comfortable on a flight, and the last thing we all want is an unhappy little traveller sitting next to us!
Create an Itinerary
This doesn’t need to be a boring or restrictive list of things you have to do! Have some fun with the family and write down your top must do and see activities and sights. This means you won’t get stuck inside on a rainy day, and it’s a fair way of making sure everyone gets the chance to do what they want. Don’t try and pack too much into your travels. This is a common mistake. Most of us want to see and do everything, but make sure you have some time to relax too!
Book Ahead
Spontaneity is all well and good, but when it’s 10 o'clock at night and all the hotels are full, you may wish you’d had something booked. Booking hotels for each night can take the sense of excitement and travel out of your trip. If you’re keen to have a carefree trip, try camping. No- this doesn’t mean tents and fire pits, an RV is a great way to tour in luxury. Fantasy RV Tours offers flexibility and freedom for the adventurous family! Leaders and guides have unrivalled knowledge of history and culture. Making your trip educational, stress-free, and safe for all the family.
Get Some Sunlight and Get Moving!
Spending so much time together means that tempers can start to fray. Even on a day when you feel tired or in a bad mood, try not to mope around the hotel, or RV! Holiday-stress arguments can be avoided by getting active in the sun. Serotonin, which we get from the sun, helps to stabilise our mood. Our brains produce more of it on sunny days, so get outdoors and reap the benefits! Walking, or even hiking, is also a good way to destress the family and get fit at the same time.
