Happy 2017! Today, I am writing to you from Myrtle Beach, SC. I am here for the week with my family, as we enjoy spending time together after the rush of the holiday season. 2016 was a really rough year for my family. It was wonderful because it brought us our sweet baby girl... I could not imagine life without her now that she is here. The hard parts of 2016 had more to do with recovering from surgery, the ups and downs associated with having a baby, financial adjustments, a new school for my son, and of course, the recent unexpected loss of my beloved grandmother. Now that 2016 is behind us, I am focusing on all that 2017 could potentially hold for me and for my family.
I set a bunch of goals last year, and honestly, didn't really reach any of them. That's just what happens sometimes- it's a hard reality to face. Life with two kids is much different than life with just one, as I found out in 2016. Personal goals sort of fell by the wayside as hubby and I figured out our new life as a family of four. In 2017, I am setting reasonable and attainable goals.
Some of the goals that I have set for 2017 include:
Losing another 10-15 pounds (the rest of the pesky baby weight)
Exercising daily (like I did pre-pregnancy)
Eating healthier meals
Being more intentional about spending time in Word and prayer
Spending more time with my son
Dating my husband
Calling my sister more often
Large Goals:
Write a devotional book
Sing more in the community
Write and record new music
Grow Mommy's Block Party
Vacation Goals:
10 year anniversary cruise with my husband
Family spring break trip to Florida
These are all goals that I intend to work toward this year. I want to put my hands into all of these things, and work hard to make them happen. Will life try to get in the way? I'm sure they will, but that doesn't mean that I have to let it.

What are some of the goals that you have set for 2017? Does it make sense to set goals these days? Do you not set goals because you're afraid of failure? If you do, you're not alone... but I challenge you to set some attainable goals, and then also set some that might be a little harder to reach. It's always good to have things to work toward. I'd love to hear about some of your goals for 2017- please feel free to leave them in the comment thread, so we can affirm one another's goals for the year!
Best of luck and many blessings in 2017!
