Thank you Crunchies Natural Food Company for providing me with product, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared below are my own.
Halloween was last night, and we barely made it back to the car before the girls were asking for a piece of candy. I'm no "fuddy-duddy", but I do prefer not to load my girls up on sugar, especially right before bedtime.
Our Little "Shimmer" and "Cleo" |
Luckily, before we left on our trick or treating adventure, a package arrived. I had been expecting it, but the timing couldn't have been more perfect. It was our box of Crunchies samples.
Crunchies Natural Food Company, founded in 2004, offers a variety of freeze dried fruits and vegetables available in "single serve" and larger "grab and go" sizes. Each product features only one ingredient- fresh produce, and is Non-GMO Project Verified, gluten free, vegan, kosher, and halal certified. Basically, goodness in a pouch!
We were in a bit of a rush, so we left without opening the box.
After our ride home (we go to a local park to "trunk or treat") and being bombarded with the "can we have candy when we get home?" and "how many pieces are we allowed to eat?" questions about 500 times (per child), I was beyond ready to call it a night. The girls each had a small serving of candy, which, based on how fast they ate it and requested more, was not a good enough size to satisfy their hankering.
That's when I remembered, we just got our package of Crunchies samples, and I quickly opened them up. First, we went over what was in each of the pouches. Drew was most excited to try the blueberries and Reese the grapes. I was all about the pineapple and Matt was surprised (and glad) to see the beets!
We played a quick game, where I opened a pouch and the girls had to close their eyes and try to figure out which freeze dried treat they were enjoying. Drew was pretty good at the game and we got her to try almost every freeze dried goody, before she was ready to call it a night. Reese was not so interested in playing, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try each of the treats, even the beets!
The girls, who can be pretty picky on a good day, loved the Crunchies. I was a fan of all, except for the beets (I've never had a beet in life, until last night), which made Matt pretty happy because that means he can keep them for himself. I definitely think that these treats will help prevent Matt and me from raiding the girls' Halloween candy and will help keep the girls focus off of their candy, for a little while anyway.
I'm also really interested in finding way to add these freeze dried snacks to some of our meals. I already imagine they would make a pretty great addition to oatmeal (and probably muffins), but I wonder what else I could use them for?
