Studies show that if coffee drinkers have a lower risk of type 2 diabetes than those who don’t drink coffee at all. Type 2 diabetes is one of the world’s most prevalent preventable illnesses. Numerous studies have linked coffee consumption to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. A review involving nine studies and more than 960,000 individuals suggested that coffee drinkers had a lower risk of diabetes. Participants who drank more than six cups per day had a 35% lower risk of diabetes than those who had fewer than two cups.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive condition, which causes tremors and loss of coordination. Researchers have found that drinking coffee can help to reduce the severity of symptoms in those with the disease. Drinking coffee daily can decrease your risk of developing Parkinson’s disease in the first place.

You often hear about caffeine causing trouble for your heart. But research suggests that your daily coffee fix can actually help to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. One reason is a reduced risk of diabetes, which is a risk factor for heart disease. A study involving almost 84,000 nurses showed that those who drank coffee had a 20% lower risk of having a stroke than non-drinkers. 

4. Lower stress levels
Do you feel the tension melt away when you smell freshly brewed coffee? If so, you’re probably not alone. Korean researchers discovered reduced stress levels in rats following exposure to coffee scents. This study involved sleep-deprived rats. It’s thought that the same response can be seen in humans. 

5. Antioxidant hit
You may immediately think of berries and green tea when the work antioxidant pops up. But coffee is also an excellent source of these natural gems. 

6. Increased happiness
Studies by the National Institute of Health found that people who drink coffee regularly have a lower risk of depression. 

7. Increased sharpness and intelligence
If you can’t function without a mug of strong coffee in the morning, there may be a scientific explanation. Reports from CNN suggest that drinking coffee makes your brain sharper and more alert. This enables you to tackle tasks more effectively.
