Is anyone else absolutely ready for vacation? School isn't out around here for B until the end of May, and then public schools aren't out until mid June. We are planning a beach trip with our good friends, and I can't wait to get away for a few days. One of the benefits of my husband and I both being self-employed, is that we can pretty much take trips whenever we want to, depending on our schedules. Between friends with beach houses, and my parents owning a time share, we don't usually have to worry about where we'll stay- it's just a matter of getting there.
Last year, we traveled a lot. We went to the beach with our family, we went to NJ/NYC, and we went to NOLA. Later on, we also went to Jacksonville, FL, took a trip to the mountains, and went back to Myrtle Beach after the holidays. We love to travel, and as much as I am itching to go on a big vacation, I know that we can't venture too far from home just yet- S is still so tiny. A three and a half hour trip is probably all we can manage while we're still breastfeeding.
Wedding March through the streets of NOLA.
Boat ride on the Hudson River- NYC/NJ.
Family beach trip over spring break 2015.
I don't really want to think about getting into a bathing suit post-baby, but at least I have some motivation for getting back into shape. Walking will have to suffice for now, as it will still be a few weeks before I will feel good about attempting Pilates again. I am looking forward to basking in the sunshine. Even though I can't be out on the beach with S for long periods of time, I will be happy just to sit and rock her on the beach, go for beach walks at night, and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Looking ahead, we definitely want to plan some other trips. We love going up to NJ to visit our family, and always squeeze in day trips to NYC when we do. We would love to plan another cruise with the whole family. We also want to do a family trip to Florida, so we can take B to LEGOLAND and Universal. We haven't attempted Disney yet- we want to, but we want to wait until S is old enough to enjoy some of the kiddie rides before we do.
Do you have summer vacation plans? Are there any summer vacation or trip traditions that you have with your family? We'd love to hear about them!
