#Tip Tuesday- Breakfast Edition

Are you looking for a simple, delicious, breakfast that's actually healthy? Oatmeal is your answer! That might not be a surprise to most people, but here's a tip that might be: you can make a large batch of old fashioned oats and refrigerate for a quick breakfast all week.

It you already eat instant oatmeal in the morning, this won't save you time. On the bright side, your family will get a more nourishing and filling breakfast. I personally prefer the taste and texture of old fashioned oats over the more processed instant oatmeal. And if you are breastfeeding you may see an increase in your supply!

It's really simple...

Bring milk to a simmer
A 1/2 cup of uncooked oats= one serving. Use one cup of milk to the first 1/2 cup of oats then 3/4 cup of milk for every 1/2 cup of oats after. So for  4 servings use 2 cups of oats and 3 1/4 cups of milk.

Add oats and stir frequently
You want to stay close by and stir as much as possible until you reach the desired consistency. This will give you nice, creamy oatmeal.

Not quite ready...

PERFECT!
This took about 7 minutes after adding the oats. You can either add flavor now or let it cool to store in the refrigerator. I leave it plain so everyone can enjoy it their favorite way.

Morning after
Serve into bowls, add a splash of milk, and microwave about a minute.

Add flavor and enjoy!
N loves hers with honey, A gets maple syrup. Ray and I like ours with butter, salt and pepper. There's endless possibilities. I hope you give it a try!
