Ham...It's not just for special occasions! #tastytuesday

I have never cooked a ham before but in December they were on sale so I decided to give it a try.  My Dad cooks ham on the grill all the time and it is SO good.  I was going to use the crock pot instead of the grill, but the ham was too big for the crock pot so I cooked it in the oven.  I didn't look up any recipes, just decided to squirt some honey on it and then sprinkle brown sugar all over it and put it in the oven. It was delicious!!  And we ate on it for about 3 days.  I will be doing ham more often.  That is something that always seems to be a holiday food, but it is simple enough to have anytime!

The above picture is not my ham:)  The below pictures are my ham.  I didn't get one of it before I put it in the oven.  I always have trouble getting pictures while I am cooking.  I have to get better with that.

My ham had been cooking for about 2 hours at this point.

This was the ham after 8 hours in the oven.

Ready to eat and so, so good!

Since I didn't use a specific recipe, here is what I did:

Ham (mine was a 6 lb. ham)
Honey
Brown Sugar
Alumiun baking pan
Alumiun foil

I lined the pan with the foil and placed the ham in the foil.  I squirted honey over the entire ham and then rubbed it in.  Next, I sprinkled brown sugar all over.  I covered with the foil and put it in the oven.  I baked it for 8 hours at 225 degrees.  I pulled it out about once an hour, just to check on it since I had never done this before.  My house smelled delicious and we couldn't wait to eat!  When it was finished, we enjoyed it for a couple of days!

Enjoy!!
