Fitness Friday: Mommy & Me in the Water



As a mom of a little man who is always on the go and doesn't do a lot of sleeping on his own, I find it really hard to find time for my own exercise. Don't get me wrong, I'm not missing it or anything, but I know I should be doing a little extra to burn those last couple of baby pounds. I also don't love the hot weather, so exercising outside is out of the question during the summer.


Recently I realized I could actually turn one of our favorite playtimes into a little calorie burn for myself. Mr. G absolutely loves the water! We've been going to swim lessons since he was about 8 months old, and he relishes any opportunity to splash or play.


Our new neighborhood has a really nice pool, which actually makes it comfortable to be exercising outside in NC in the summer. Since he can't swim on his own, he makes the perfect weight for doing a few arm presses (bonus: he loves going up and down in and out of the water). And I can "aquajog" him across the pool while he floats on a raft, backfloats, or kicks on his own.


And then we get to relax in the shade, poolside, both ready for an afternoon nap. It's a win for everyone!
