A few years ago, I believe it's when Drew was in kindergarten and we were just getting ready for her first summer vacation, I saw an idea on Pinterest to create a "Summer Bucket List". I loved the idea and we have been creating our own list over the last few years. This year, our list is the longest it's ever been and we have a few pretty big items on our list, including attending Connecticut Comiconn!
Connecticut Comiconn is a super weekend-long event, when the state's biggest and best convention for comics and pop culture invades the Mohegan Sun Convention Center! The annual "CON" draws thousands of fans of comic books, sci-fi and fantasy films, memorabilia, and cosplay, Visitors will be able to see various exhibits and check out some rare comic books and merchandise from a variety of dealers. You'll also have the chance to meet legendary comic book creators from both DC and Marvel Comics, television and movie actors like Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman), John Wesley Shipp (from "The Flash"), Greg Grunberg (from "Heroes") and Ke Huy Quan (from "The Goonies"), and experience a few other awesome surprises the promoters have up their sleeves.
There will be comedy, live music, and cool things to see and do like the 1966 Batmobile and Batcycle, The TARDIS from "Doctor.Who", and Magic the Gathering tournaments. Costume contests, panels, and more will be a part of the fun this year as well. Be sure to visit the official website for all of the details.
Children 8 and under (woo-hoo, both Drew and Reese) are free when accompanied by a paying adult. There is a limit of 2 children per paying adult. Tickets are just $25 (advanced purchase, $30 at the door) and parking is FREE! You can get your tickets at the Mohegan Sun Box office 7 days a week between 10am and 8pm or through TicketMaster.
This will be our first year attending and we will be ordering our tickets soon to avoid missing out. I know the girls, Drew especially, are going to be super excited and I cannot wait to see their reactions.
Now I want a summer bucket list too.
