My Thoughts...

Hubby and I had a chance to take a sneek peak at The Divergent Series: INSURGENT earlier this week, before its official theatrical release, and we were so excited to see it! I am a huge fan of the Divergent Series, and have read all of the books, including the books from Four's perspective. INSURGENT picks up right where DIVERGENT left off, so if you haven't seen or read DIVERGENT, my guess is that you will be very lost watching INSURGENT.

If you watched DIVERGENT, but haven't read any of the books in this series, you will probably love this movie. It's filled with action, amazing stunts and cinematogrophy- I mean, truly, it's amazing to watch, and I almost want to see this again, so I can watch it in 3D. My husband has not read the DIVERGENT books, he has only seen the films up to this point. He enjoyed the DIVERGENT movie, and was freaking out with excitement over seeing INSURGENT. As soon as he saw the trailer, he was on fire to see this in theatres.

INSURGENT includes an all-star cast, and Shailene Woodley and Theo James absolutely bring their A-Game as actors to this film, and their characters. Also in this film, are Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller, reprising the roles of Peter and Caleb. Kate Winslet is outstanding, as she reprises the role of Jeanine, and this may be one of my favorite roles I have seen her in (and she's played a lot of great characters). She just plays this cold, heartless, mis-guided woman so well- I love it! Added to this awesome cast are Octavia Spencer (love her) as Johanna, leader of the Amity faction, and Naomi Watts, leader of the factionless (and her role will be surprising to those who have not read INSURGENT).

INSURGENT follows Tris Prior and Four (Tobias Eaton) as they make their way through the factions, seeking truth and justice for all people. Tris is haunted by recent events, and lives with the guilt of choices she had to make in order to survive and protect others. Four has much, much more of a backstory than you will be made aware of in the INSURGENT film. My advice would be to read the book, if you want the whole story (which is much more interesting, by the way). The movie doesn't bring forth many of the relationships and struggles between chracters that the book does. This film is intense, but the book much more so- trust me, you won't want to put it down.

For me, I enjoyed watching the struggles that Caleb and Peter faced in this film. Both of these characters go back and forth as to where their loyalities lie, and it's very suspenseful to watch it unfold onscreen.

Do Jeanine and Tris get satisfaction? Do they uncover the truths they have been seeking all along? You'll just have to see the movie to find out- and if you haven't read the books, you will love all of the clever twists along the way in this story! The ending is a true eye-opener, leaving lots of room for discussion (at least it did for my hubby and me). I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll say no more!

If you're a fan of this series, definitely go see the movie! If you're looking for an action-packed, suspenseful thriller, definitely see this movie!
