Our family spends a lot of time on the road. We're pretty lucky that B is a good traveler, and loves to entertain himself with handheld learning games, and reading books on his tablet or on his Leap Pad. Unfortunately, B isn't always keen on mommy and daddy having side conversations, or trying to listen to some light music. He always complains about not being able to hear his devices. I have leaned away from allowing B to have a set of children's headphones in the past, because I didn't feel that he was quite old enough to be able to work them properly, and take care of them. I also worried about hi blasting the volume, and me not being able to even realize it. We were sent some info on some cool new Headsets for kids, right before Christmas, which ultimately changed my position on the no headphones rule.
Kidz Gear has been bringing their awesome products to parents and children for fifteen years! They specialize in delivering a line of products with adult features and performance, but made specifically for kids. Rather than make 'toy' headphones, etc for kids, Kidz Gear focuses on making real products that are top quality, work well, and are safe and easy for kids to use. Kids love Kidz Gear products, because they make them feel like little adults, receiving their own version of an adult product, like a pair of headphones.
I was pretty impressed by what I read about Kidz Gear, and Founder, Laurie Peterson's (who is a mom, herself) reasoning's for bringing these products to the market for parents and kiddos. I was eager to see what Kidz Gear's newest product was all about, and to put them to the test, with my four-year-old.
We received this nifty package of goodies from the fine folks at Kidz Gear.
We received a Headset, accessory bag, and bonus splitter!
B was crazy thrilled to receive his own Headset! His daddy received new headphones for Christmas, and he couldn't wait to sit next to him with his own headphones on!

B couldn't wait to test out his new Headset from Kidz Gear!
We put the headset on B right away. He loves the jazzy blue headset, and built-in boom microphone! The headset is adjustable, but we didn't have to mess with it too much. The lowest adjust setting was pretty much just right for B. I watched as he comfortably wore his headset, and even ducked his head forward, without them slipping or falling off.
We plugged the Kidz Gear Headset into B's tablet right away, and it worked like a charm!
Within seconds, B was enjoying the sounds from his games at a low, controlled volume. I wasn't able to hear a whole lot of what he was hearing, so I knew it wasn't too loud for his little ears, which can be pretty sensitive to loud music and noise. I was also pleased to see that he wasn't messing with the headset a whole lot. He adjusted the boom mic a time or two, but pretty much left that alone, and focused on his learning game.
Our Kidz Gear Headset also came with a neat accessory bag, which is lined (and super soft on the inside), and a splitter.
The bag is really great to have. It's a drawstring bag, and it's lined, so it will keep the headset safe and well protected. There is also enough room for us to put B's Leap Pad or tablet in there, so it's nice to have a soft, protected storage bag for those devices, rather than B's backpack, which gets tossed around quite a bit. The splitter is great for when you have more than one child. We often take B and his Cousin C to events, which have us traveling an hour or more, and they both love to watch movies together in the back seat of the car. The splitter allows them to each plug their headsets into the same device, so they can both hear the sound, and mom and dad don't have to listen to the movie. Win, win, win!
B really loves his Kidz Gear Headset!
B has been pretty content reading books, and playing games on his tablets, and using the headset. I love that we can now sit next to each other, each doing our own thing, and neither of us has to hear what the other is involved in. The volume is easy for B to control himself, with a simple slide on the control panel. He already knows how to turn everything on himself,
The biggest test for the Kidz Gear Headset (for us) will come when we head to the beach in a couple of days. We have about a four hour drive, and I am hoping that B will be able to entertain himself for at least part of the trip, and enjoy his games and movies, through his Kidz Gear Headset!
You can also purchase the Kidz Gear Headphones (without the boom mic) for $19.99, and they are available in seven different colors! The drawstring bag and splitter are add-on items to your order.
We already love these super cool headphones, and are so glad to have them! I can't wait to see how they work for B on our future trips, but for now, they work like a dream, and I would highly recommend them!
