School is officially out for summer around here, which means that summer is upon us. The weather is already very warm, and now that my little doodle bug is older, I'm ready to experience all of the joy and fun that summer brings to us, with him, and my hubby. I'm looking forward to family cook outs, to holiday festivities, to everyday activities, and introducing old childhood pastimes to my own child. Before I know it, we'll be celebrating our freedom on the 4th of July, at the annual concert and picnic in the park, with our family and friends, and I'll be wanting everyone to dress the part.
If you live in the south, as I do, you've probably heard of Lolly Wolly Doodle. Lolly Wolly Doodle is a NC based clothing company (in Lexington actually, a neighboring city to where I live in Salisbury), which took off running in 2010. Brandi Tysinger-Temple began making adorable outfits for her young girls as a hobby, because she felt that she couldn't find anything cute and tasteful for them to wear. She had some leftover fabric, and made a few of extra dresses, which she decided to sell on EBay. The demand for Brandi's creations began to grow, and Brandi hired family, friends, and even church members to help her sew and fill the orders. Lolly Wolly Doodle's popularity took off faster than Brandi ever imagined it would, and today, Lolly Wolly Doodle employs more than 100 folks in/around Lexington, NC, calls a 19,000 square foot facility home, and has more than 375,000 fans on Facebook, alone!
I had noticed Lolly Wolly Doodle a couple of years ago, as I began seeing little girls at church in the most adorable outfits on the planet. I asked one of the other moms where her daughter's outfit was from, and she began to tell me about Lolly Wolly Doodle, and how they had the most adorable outfits for girls, and even moms! When the opportunity arose for me to work with Lolly Wolly Doodle a few weeks ago, I jumped for joy- but wondered if they would offer outfits for little boys, which were just as adorable as their outfits for little girls? As I browsed their website, I was so pleased to find so many options for boys! I made my selection from Lolly Wolly Doodle's 4th of July collection, and couldn't wait to see it in person!

Upon opening the package from LWD, I found B's new outfit, which was again, wrapped in a Lolly Wolly Doodle clear plastic bag for protection.
I was so tickled to see B's new outfit! It looked so adorable when I picked it out online, and I couldn't wait to see it in person, and then of course, see it on B. I called him over to the table, and laid his new outfit from Lolly Wolly Doodle out, so he could take a look. 'Is this for me?' he asked, in his adorable three-year-old boy voice. I told him that it was a special new outfit for him, and he smiled the biggest smile I'd ever seen. He pointed out the cute whale on the t-shirt, and the little whales on the shorts, and even told me that the shirt had his name on it.
I chose the Red White Stripe Seersucker Whale Boy's Short Set, in a size 4/5 T.
Totally adorable shorts with little whales!
The shorts are completely adorable! I love the red and white seersucker (I am a huge fan of little boys wearing seersucker, anyway), and the cute little blue embroidered whales, which appear all over the shorts! I noticed how nicely stitched the seams were on these shorts, which put my mind at ease. My little dude is definitely a rough and tumble boy, and sometimes, his clothes just don't survive his little man adventures. I was confident that these well-made shorts would hold up well against whatever B decided to get into. The shorts are a 5 T, and even though I could have gone with a 4T, as the shorts fit true to size, with a little room to grow, I went ahead and ordered up one size. B is so tall for a three-year-old, I never know how long it will take him to outgrow a piece of clothing. My hope was that he would be able to wear these shorts through the summer, and if I'm lucky, he may be able to wear them next spring, as well!

The t-shirt is a cotton tee in a size 4/5T. It fits B really very well, and there's a little room to grow in this as well, which means he can wear it all summer long! The t-shirt is embellished with a cute whale applique, and personalized with B's name, in a matching red embroidery thread.

I love that Lolly Wolly Doodle gives you the option to customize their clothing, the way you want it. With this particular outfit, the applique is optional, as is the monogram. When it comes to personalization, choose from one or two initials, or the child's full name. *The applique and monogram options are an additional fee.
Cute and casual, yet nice enough to wear to church...
I couldn't wait to see B in his festive outfit from Lolly Wolly Doodle's fun 4th of July collection! He debuted the outfit at church a couple of Sundays ago, which was a special day for us, because we were headed on a trip to TN later that morning. When we were at church. everyone went crazy over B's outfit. We go to our churches contemporary worship service, which is a bit laid back, and casual. I loved that B's new outfit from Lolly Wolly Doodle was casual enough to wear to that service, and also nice enough for him to have worn to our traditional service, as well (sometimes we go to both services in the same day). I proudly told the other moms that his outfit came from Lolly Wolly Doodle, and most knew about LWD already, but they didn't know that they made outfits for boys, too.
After church, we gave B the option of chaning his clothes, because we'd be in the car for five hours or so. He insisted on keeping his LWD outfit on for our trip, so off we went, headed up the mountain.
Here we go, ready for our trip, and B dressed in his Sunday best from Lolly Wolly Doodle...
B seemed to be incredibly comfortable in his LWD outfit while we were in the car. He didn't complain a single time, and when we stopped for lunch, he had the waitresses eating out of the palm of his little hand. They thought his outfit was just about the cutest thing they'd ever seen!

After we reached our destination that afternoon, we headed to my husband's grandparent's home for a visit. Both Grandaddy Ted and Nana Velma loved B's outfit! B was even able to strike up a bit of a conversation with his 102-year-old Great Great Grandmother, Byrd, when she asked him about his whale shirt! That sure made for one very special visit!

B had a great day while wearing his Lolly Wolly Doodle Seersucker Shorts Set. He hated to take it off when we reached our hotel, and begged me to let him sleep in his whale shirt. I finally talked him out of it, but it's good for me to know that he was so comfy in his special outfit, that he could have slept in it! I did give the outfit a wash when we returned from our trip. I washed it in cold water, and hung the shorts to dry, and laid the t-shirt flat to dry. Worked like a charm, and the outfit looked as good as new, when all was said and done.
Of course, B has worn his Lolly Wolly Doodle Outfit several times since wearing it on our trip...

We love B's Lolly Wolly Doodle outfit so much, and B can't wait to wear it again! I definitely have it picked out for him to wear for our 4th of July festivities, but I have a feeling that B won't want to wait that long before he wears it again. Maybe we'll just have to shop LWD in the meantime!
