Rileyroos Shoes Review

One thing our house is not lacking is shoes. We each have a bin in the mud room to collect them and there is never a shortage of them for whatever season we may be in. One person who hasn't started her collection is baby Collett. Yes, she will get some of S's hand me downs, but a girl needs her own shoes sometimes too.  I was so excited to start that collection a few weeks ago when a company who I had wanted to work with for awhile contacted us. YAY for Rileyroos!
Rileyroos was the creation of Riley's parents, Kim and Brian. They saw a need for shoes for babies and toddlers that were stylish, comfortable, and developmentally appropriate for growing feet. They combined European fashion trends with American styles for their designs, while also imitating barefoot walking. The shoes are lightweight, flexible, and have rubber padded soles for both protection and traction.

I was in contact with Rileyroos quite a few months back and they did not have space for us to review at the time, but kept us on their list and luckily we were able to partner with them now. I could not have been more excited when they contacted me and offered to let us review a pair of their adorable shoes.

I worked with Justina, she was very friendly and generously let me choose my top three choices from the Rileyroos website and they would send me a pair from my three. I had such a hard time choosing but finally decided on my favorite.

Here are the two that I had on my list that we did not receive:

Justina let me know what pair she was sending and ten days later...
Our Rileyroos package has arrived!

Inside the box, carefully packaged were a pair of Rileyroos, a thank you insert, and our shipping form. Can I tell you, the yellow box that the shoes are in is so cute. It is the perfect size, has a little handle for little hands to carry, and a great window to peek at the shoes inside. The box is also made from 80% recycled paper material.

I love this special thank you insert from Rileyroos, it includes the following:
"We hope your new Rileyroos put a SMILE on your face and inspire you to LEAP, SING, JUMP, and DANCE around. And always DREAM big with Rileyroos!
 Our new pair of Rileyroos!
My other choice, in the top three, was the Charlotte in Hot Pink. They are available in 4 different size options, starting at 3-6 months. I selected the 6-12 months because I just don't put shoes on my babies until they are at least crawling. The Charlotte's retail for $36 and also come in Passion (a gorgeous purple color).
The Charlottes are a Mary Jane type shoe with Velcro closures and fluffy pink ruffles on the top. They are incredibly soft and lightweight. I love, love, love the pink color and C will have tons of clothes that match perfectly with them. They can be more casual or worn with tights/leggings and be a little more dressy.

The bottoms of the Rileyroos are made with a flexible leather sole with rubber padding. They are curved along the bottom into the toes for protection and to imitate barefoot walking. These will be perfect for C when she is transitioning from crawling to walking.

Tips & Suggestions from the Rileyroos website:

  • To make sure shoes fit correctly, measure both feet each time you buy a pair of shoes or every two to three months, whichever comes first.  Little feet grow very quickly during the toddler years.
  • Make sure the child is standing with feet about shoulder-width apart when you measure their feet.
  • Measure the child’s feet with socks, if they will wear socks with the shoes on a normal basis.
  • The child should be able to wiggle their toes and have at least a 1/4 inch gap between the tallest toe and end of the shoe.  This is important when measuring a child’s foot, a 1/4″ should be added to the measurement of the foot for proper growth and development.
  • We recommend use of our sizing chart prior to purchase, and place the child’s foot on the sizing chart. Should you purchase the incorrect size, please review our exchange/return policy for processing times and shipping fees in our Customer Service section.
  • Several of our on-line retailers offer free returns and free exchanges for your shopping convenience and to assist with on-line purchase of footwear when sizing is uncertain.  To find a list of on-line retailers, visit our Store Locator.
