We've been hearing all about it for months... when I first learned that Disney had a PLANES movie in the works, I knew my son would be thrilled! He's a huge fan of Disney CARS, and now new characters take flight and make families everywhere smile and laugh!
“Disney’s Planes” is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar. “Disney’s Planes” takes off in theaters on Aug. 9, 2013.

We were thrilled to be given a first look at Disney PLANES earlier this week. Balian was thrilled to be going to see his first big boy movie, and since we all loved CARS so much already, we were excited to be meeting these new characters on the big screen.

So, we headed to the theater and put on our 3D glasses to enjoy the show. From the opening sequence, we were all captivated by the soaring planes, and the amazing 3D animation. Balian had never experienced anything like that beforehand, and he loved the planes zooming 'at and around him.' Disney never ceases to amaze us with that they can do to 'wow' the audience.
We connected with the characters, particularly Dusty, a small crop duster, who wants to race with the big planes. Dusty's size and fear of heights pose potential setbacks, but with the encouragement and help from his friends, and Skipper, an ex-military plane, Dusty works hard to overcome his weaknesses and enters a qualifying race in the skies. When Dusty makes it to the big leagues, he meets all sorts of new characters- like El Chupacabra (who is hilarious), and Ripslinger, who is totally into himself, and his own awesomeness.
PLANES is a story of friendship and perserverence, reminding folks young and old to never let go of the dreams, to work hard, and to be a good friend.
We definitely encourage you all to head out to see PLANES in the theater. We doubt you'll be disapointed, and the kiddos will be captivated from the very begining! If you loved CARS, you'll absolutely love PLANES, too! Disney has definitely done it again, bringing joy to the entire family, with this fun, heartwarming animated film.
