Tip Tuesdays: Fun Lunches for Picky Toddlers

If your toddler is as picky and finicky as mine is, chances are, you have days where you're pulling your hair out, trying to figure out what to feed them. I came across some really fun-looking ideas, and I can't wait to try some of these with my son!

A fun Toddlers Easter Lunch:peanut butter/honey sandwich with carrot chips, marshmallows in tail, choc chip for eyes
Peanut butter and Honey Sandwich

Cut bread into the shape of a bunny, use carrots for whiskers, and a muffin cup liner for a flower blossom. Serve with a special Easter candy treat.

I found a super cool cookbook in NL with all these fun toddler lunch ideas. Good practice for my Dutch, too!
Vehicle Lunch

Make your lunch meat and cheese into the shape of your child's favorite vehicle, like a car, truck, boat, rocket ship, etc. Use carrots, olives, grapes and more to decorate!

Adding fun little surprises to a seemingly normal lunch can be fun, too! Add a fun sticker or little treat cup to the meal for a special surprise your toddler will love!

Little Bites in Fun Shapes

I recently read that you should only serve up about 2 Tbsp per food item for a toddler (at a time), and that they shouldn't be expected to eat much more than that, so serve up different things in small portions, and in fun shapes, if you can! Love this idea for Halloween!

Funny Faces

Here's an idea that I use a lot at our house. My son loves pepperoni and cheese, so we make silly faces on his plate with his food. Looks like those are bananas and blueberries, too!

Sometimes moms just have to be a bit creative. We'd love to hear some of the wacky & fun things you've served up for your kids! Leave us a comment to share your ideas!

  2. I have found that letting my toddlers help me in the kitchen helps them to try new things and to eat better because they made it.
