One of Beckett's daily chores is to get the mail after school. He loves going through piece after piece of mail to see what might be for him. He gets a few magazines each month, occasionally a card, but the thing he recently looks most forward to, is a package with a twist.
This package comes once a month and is from a partnership, we at MBP, have formed with an awesome company called Little Passports.
Little
Passports is a company based in San Fransisco founded by two moms who
were looking for a fun and inspiring way to encourage an interest in the world
for both their children and other children. Little Passports offers
opportunities and experiences by mailing monthly travel packages (World
or US
Editions) right to your mailbox. These packages are filled with exciting items
to encourage their explorations. Little Passports is deeply committed to
educating children about other cultures as well as improving the livelihoods of
children around the globe.
We are lucky enough to have had three months of the World Edition come to our house and we look forward to one more in March. Becoming a part of Little Passports is super easy and you will be hooked after your first delivery. First, you sign up (they have different plans for whatever your needs might be), each month your child will receive a package filled with amazing goodies from a new country or state, explore and have fun with your child. Check out some great clips and reviews of Little Passports here.

Our first month was an introduction to Little Passports. We met Sam and Sofia, and were sent a suitcase filled with a world wall map, a travel passport, stickers, an activity sheet, and access to online games and activities with a boarding pass. Our second month was a visit to Brazil and included another letter from Sam and Sofia, photos, stickers, boarding pass, activity sheet, and an extra special surprise from the adventure. We were so excited to see where we would head in February.
B was home sick from school, so his Little Passports package was a thrill to open on a rather boring day.
The first thing we discovered was a photo of Sam and Sofia in front of a traditional Japanese home. Both kids enjoyed looking it over and talking about the way it looked.
Next was Sam and Sofia's letter, filled with all kinds of fun they were having-eating Sushi (including a Wasabi mishap), learning origami, visiting Mt. Fuji, and more. The activity sheet included a Japanese crossword, how to order lunch, and some information about Children's Day.
Next, we found a Japanese eraser, shaped like Sushi, this was hilarious and totally well received.
Our stickers and boarding pass. The boarding pass allows us to access games and activities online, our favorite this month was the Japanese Food Type activity.
Placing the Japan sticker in the passport.
Looking together to find Japan.
Found it!
The coolest part of this month's package was by far the origami. Included in our package were numerous sheets of origami paper and step by step instructions for over 10 different origami shapes.
We immediately got to work on our first origami animal, B chose a dog.
Ta-Da!
S wanted in too, she chose an origami cat.
Our suitcase is now filled with goodies from Brazil and Japan. We have learned so much already and can't wait to see where we travel to next. Thanks Little Passports and Sara!!
