Peaceable Kingdom (Review and Giveaway)

-Part of our Holiday Gift Guide 2012-

Our family loves to play games, whether it's just 2 or 3 of us or a larger crowd, games are our go-to activity. We have a large assortment of games, both educational and entertaining for all ages, but I sometimes run into trouble trying to find new age appropriate games for the kids. I usually travel to local toy stores to find the best and most educational games but now I have found an excellent company that has tons of board games that are unique and specifically for the kids.

Peaceable Kingdom is a company founded in 1983 on a single product, a poster featuring the children's classic book Goodnight Moon. For the past 30 years, they have continued to create award winning, educational products for kids. Peaceable Kingdom has a mission to make good, do good, and be good. They donate to charitable organizations that support the well being of children, work only with socially conscious manufacturers, use sustainable and eco friendly materials, maintain integrity with their business relationships, and have fun while they work. Peaceable Kingdom seems to have the right philosophy to make a great company!

As part of our Holiday Gift Guide, we were sent a newer product from Peaceable Kingdom. I knew the kids would be excited to check it out and I loved how versatile it would be to accommodate both Beckett and Scarlett's abilities.

Our Peaceable Kingdom package has arrived!

Scarlett was the lucky one home to open the package.

"Mommy, this looks so fun, what is it?"

This, my friends, is Feed the Woozle! Meet Gina, the inventor of Feed the Woozle.

First of all, I love the box. It is super bright and colorful and totally eye catching. We loved the Woozle on the box cover too, he is not scary and looks pretty silly. Both kids were immediately drawn to the box, always a good sign.

Feed the Woozle is a Cooperative Preschool Skill Level Game that is aimed for children ages 3-6. Cooperative games are when all players play together, not against one another, against a common obstacle. Cooperative games are a mom life saver at my house, everyone winning is so much nicer. The game includes a stand up Woozle, 24 silly snacks (our favorites were Lemon Flavored Underwear, Baseball Sandwich, and Hairy Pickles), a spoon, a die, a spinner, and three levels of instruction and retails for around $20.

The object of the game: Feed the Woozle 12 snacks before all the snacks are gone.
The game ends when: The Woozle has eaten 12 snacks and the team wins or the Woozle doesn't get all his snacks and you have to try again.
To set up: Stand the Woozle on a table 8-10 feet from the players, place the spoon, die, and spinner, and snacks close to players.

Scarlett and I started by playing Level One together, it is aimed for children ages 3-4. This level is very basic and easy to understand, I think even some 2 year olds could succeed playing this level. The players take turns rolling the die and adding that many snacks to the spoon. Carefully walk to the Woozle, without dropping the snacks, and feed him.

Levels Two and Three are aimed for the older 4-6 year old set. The basic rules are the same except the spinner is used, this adds extra excitement because gross motor skills are added in. Each player has to not only carefully carry the snacks, but a specific move (think Hula Dance or Bunny Hop) is required in Level Two and a blindfold is added in Level Three.

We love our new Feed the Woozle game. I love that we can all play and we have a pleasant time doing it. We all work together and there is zero fighting about who wins and who loses. It is hilarious, cute, and even better, educational.
