Hasbro Review

-Part of our Holiday Gift Guide 2012-
With the holidays come new toys, books, clothing, and games. My kids eagerly make their lists and send them off to Santa with high hopes of getting everything they are dreaming of. While working with MBP, my kids have learned that a box arriving at our house can mean an awesome surprise for them. They were in luck recently when a large package arrived on our doorstep.

Hasbro has been around for decades and is one of the largest toy makers in the world. They have marketed and promoted and partnered with a number of toy lines, game companies, and television, movie, and video game ventures. Hasbro strives to provide their 3 CSR priorities: product safety, manufacturing ethics, and environmental sustainability.

Product Safety: We recognize the trust that parents and caregivers place in us when children experience our brands, and we honor that confidence by creating quality, safe products. Quality and safety are fully integrated into Hasbro products from design through sale, via our five-step quality assurance process. We have a strong record on product safety, on which we continually look to build.
Manufacturing Ethics: We work diligently to ensure that our owned and operated factories, third party factories, and licensee factories pursue fair and safe labor conditions. We have rigorous programs in place to comply with all human rights laws and regulations in countries where we operate, and we expect the same of our suppliers.
Environmental Sustainability: We are aware of the impacts our products and packaging have on the environment throughout their life cycle, from design and development to use and disposal. We work hard, and creatively, to minimize impacts wherever possible

Someone could not wait to get this loaded up and ready to go. It does require 3 AA Batteries, which luckily we had on hand. It was very easy for Beckett to use. He loaded the 4 balls into the top of the ball launcher and turned it on, the sound of it "powering up" where pretty cool. We quickly reminded it was not to be aimed at anyone's face or anything breakable before letting him slide the trigger. The balls do glow really well and come out at a decent speed and I had one happy boy. When Dad came home, they had to go into the basement and have a ball fight, with the Koosh Solar Recon Ball Launcher, which they both thoroughly enjoyed.

The second item we were sent is the Where's My Water Board Game. This game is geared for ages 5+ and is for 1-2 players, it retails for around $20. The kids were very excited to get this game going because they had played the app on our phones and Kindle.
This game includes:
  • Game board, Frame, and Back Panel
  •  Swampy figure
  • 4 funnels
  • Tub and shower head
  •  2 piece slider and cover
  • 15 marbles
  • 10 obstacles
  • 3 duck pegs, 2 toxic pegs, and 30 round bumper pegs
  • Deck of 36 cards
  • Game guide
It also includes a bonus Tips & Tricks Sheet for the Where's My Water? and Where's My Perry? Apps and a bonus Perry piece.

The object of the game: Collect the most points by getting the blue and yellow marbles in your side of the board while avoiding the Toxic Purple marbles
How to play: Draw a card from the deck, 1 duck=easy, 2 ducks=medium, 3 ducks=hard, set up the placement of pegs and obstacles, For 2 players: each player gets 5 blue marbles . For 1 player: player gets 10 marbles, players then take turns dropping the marbles down one of the four water pipes, hopefully avoiding the obstacles while knocking down the yellow marbles and landing in the tub.
How to win: Yellow and blue marbles are worth +1 point each, toxic purple marbles are worth -1 points. The person with the most points after the last blue marble is dropped collects the card. The first person with 3 cards wins.

This game does require some adult assembly to set up the first time. I found it a bit frustrating because the directions weren't totally clear, stickers had to be applied, and didn't seem to want to stay together exactly as it was show too. I finally got it to a playable place and the kids were happy with it and ready to play. I feel like playing 1 player wouldn't be very fun, so 2 player is the way to go. The kids enjoyed taking turns dropping the marbles and we played a couple of different rounds. I think overall it is a fun game, the kids liked guessing which way the marble would roll and there was minimal fighting over the win. You must take it apart somewhat for it to fit correctly back in the box but won't take nearly as long to set up next time. Where's My Water? will be an easy game to pull out for something different once in awhile and I am sure will asked for soon.
