We've been busier than I care to actually admit lately, and it's been causing me to want to take a few short cuts around the house. I've ignored laundry for a day or two at a time, which is pretty unlike me, and have been looking for a few other things to put off, or help to make my life easier. One of those things that is a big to help to us in warm weather months, is being able to cook on our grill. We can quickly make healthy, delicious meals that the entire family loves.
In May of 2011, Ore Ida launched their newest frozen potato product- Ore Ida Grillers. These plump, thick cut potatoes are just the right size, and they turn out perfectly tender on the inside, and a crisp, golden brown on the outside! In just fifteen minutes, you have a delicious side dish that the whole family will love!
We were sent a coupon so would could experience the Ore Ida Grillers for ourselves. The Ore Ida Grillers are currently available in two varieties: Golden Thick Cut Potatoes, and Seasoned Thick Cut Potatoes. We decided to try the Seasoned Thick Cut Potatoes, which include a nice blend of black pepper, garlic and herbs. Since the weather was a bit too cool for us to use our grill the night we tried the Ore Ida Grillers, we were pleased to discover that we would bake the Ore Ida Grillers in the oven. They took very little time to cook, and looked super tasty!
We spread the Grillers out on a baking sheet, and baked as directed, right in our oven!
Still frozen here, but look how nice and thick these potato slices are!
We served our Ore Ida Grillers up alongside some tasty brats, and it was the perfect quick meal for our family, at the end of a pretty busy day. Even Balian, my two year old, who loves fries, but is not big on any other potato variety, really enjoyed these. I think the crisp outside of each potato had a lot to do with that!
Dinner is served- yum!
Just a few potato pieces were pretty filling! These tasted as good as freshly sliced potatoes!
We will definitely be purchasing more of these tasty Ore Ida Grillers. Ore Ida is a brand that we have some to love and trust through the years. Their frozen potatoes are always fresh tasting, crisp, and tender.
Rebecca P. Cohen is helping to spread the word about new Ore-Ida Grillers, a convenient potato side dish that cooks on the grill in just 15 minutes, giving you more time to spend socializing and catching up with the family and less time running back and forth from the kitchen. Rebecca is the author of 15 Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect with Your Kids and has some great ways for families to connect and have fun outside:
Ask questions to inspire imagination. Rebecca’s Curiosity Cards offer 50 creative questions for your grilling time together, such as, “What is your favorite animal and why?, “If you could fly like a bird, where would you go?”, “What could we build with what is around us right now?” and “What do you like most about being outside?” You’ll learn a lot about one another in very little time while having fun imagining together.
Variety is the spice of life. Use side dishes to create variety and interest to your meal, such as grilled zucchini, corn, and even thickly sliced red onion that sweetens as it cooks. Your plates will be beautiful and delicious! For an easy complement to any meal, try Ore-Ida Grillers, thick-cut potato slices that are ready in just 15 minutes. They cook directly on the grill right alongside your vegetables and protein and offer a fun new twist on the traditional spud.
Have Fun with Dips and Toppings. Kids love to use dips, sauces and toppings on their favorite foods. Look for options in squeeze bottles and encourage kids to decorate their grilled veggies with tasty condiments and sauces or make a smiley face in the corner of their plate to dip in while they eat. You can also let the kids prepare a toppings station filled with their favorites, such as shredded cheese, Heinz Ketchup, BBQ Sauce and more.
