Jolica Review and Giveaway

-Part of our Holiday Gift Guide 2012-

I am somewhat familiar with the term "Fair Trade", how about you? Fair Trade is a social movement that was created to engage in business relationships based on dialogue and respect and promote commitment to long term relationships with producer partners and working together to seek out opportunities that build all partners in sustainable ways.

The basic principles of Fair Trade consist of:
Create opportunities for those who are economically and socially disadvantaged
Develop relationships that are transparent and accountable to each other
Build capacity
Promote Fair Trade
Pay promptly and fairly
Support safe and healthy working conditions
Ensure the rights of children Protecting the environment
Respect different cultures

We are proud to work with a great company who is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and committed to changing lives around the world.

Jolica is a direct sales company, founded in 2005, by Ted and Darlene Loewen. Jolica is also a Fair Trade company that specializes in jewelry (sterling silver, semi precious stones, and painted glass), scarves (silk, cotton, alpaca, viscose, wool), and handbags (leather, tapestry). Each item is handcrafted by artisans in places like Chile, Peru, India, Nepal, and Thailand and no two items will ever be exactly alike. All of Jolica's pieces have a personality, culture, and heritage unique to the artisan who created it.

My package has arrived from Jolica, wonder what it could be?
Inside the Jolica box I found a smaller box (can't wait) and a folder with a 2012/13 catalog and Jolica information.
Can't wait to see what is inside this nicely wrapped paper
Check out this gorgeous Jolica Scarf!
Printed on the tag included with my Jolica scarf:
In sharing this gift, you are sharing a unique aspect of Indian culture. The centuries-old tradition of making handicrafts is valued and respected in India. The artisans that Jolica works with use their unique skills to provide for their families and to increase the appreciation of Indian culture throughout the world.

This butter yellow Jolica scarf was made in India and made from 100% viscose, which is material found in rayon. It measures 16" x 68" and retails through Jolica for $39. It is product #WS232.

In the past few years I have become quite a lover of wearing scarves. I love the look of them and how they just add such a splash of fashion to even the simplest of outfits. I was so happy to get my Jolica scarf, it was the perfect fall yellow color and so pretty. The scarf is well crafted and the material is wonderful. It is very soft and silky and doesn't make my neck itchy or sweaty. It is extremely lightweight all while looking elegant and fashionable.

I strongly encourage you to not only shop with Jolica, but with other Fair Trade companies as well. By purchasing with Fair Trade companies, you know where your products are being made and know that the artisans creating them are being treated fairly and have the positive opportunities to provide for their families.
