The Educated Owl (Review & Giveaway)

Part of Balian's 2nd Birthday Bash

The thing about throwing a party that's a lot of fun for me, is choosing a theme, and carrying it through. I mean, I really want everyone to be struck by the party theme as soon as they walk in the front door on the day of the party. I could do a lot of different things to decorate the front door, but I'm a girl who loves wreaths. They're simple, classic, classy and they make a statement. So, when I found a Cat in the Hat inspired door wreath, I had to get in touch with its maker and inquire about showing it off at Balian's big party.

I started a conversation on Etsy with Katie Rhodes, owner of The Educated Owl. Katie is a first grade teacher, and just so happens to love Dr. Seuss- it's her classroom theme! I explained our party theme to Katie, and she was trilled to make up one of her cheery Seussical wreaths for Balian's special day. I saw a photo of one of the Dr. Seuss wreaths in her Etsy shop, and just knew that our party guests would get a big kick out of it.

Katie got to work creating our wreath, and sent it right out to us. It arrived nicely packaged, and safe and sound!

Our package from The Educated Owl has arrived! I loved that Katie included a nice note for us!

This special treat was also in our box! I wasn't expecting it, so it truly made my day!

And of course- the wreath! Ta-da!

I picked the wreath up carefully, and quickly noticed how adorable and delicate it really was. Pictures just never do products justice! The wreath is made with Dr. Seuss line ribbon, and ribbon in coordinating colors. I love the actual 'hat' ribbon! The ribbon loops are fastened to the wreath form with straight pins, which is why I had to be extra careful with it, and had to be sure it was well out of Balian's reach.

Take a look at the detail...

I love the ribbon: dots, solids and the Cat's hat- oh, my!

The entire wreath is wrapped in red ribbon, and a piece of ribbon also created the hanger on the back.

The wreath in its entirety... don't you just love it!?

This is a 12" wreath, and was made to order- just as all of Katie's wreaths are. If I'd wanted to do things differently, I would have been able to customize it... but it didn't need it- it was perfect! I so enjoyed hanging it on the front door the day of Balian's birthday party, and stepping back to admire it! Our guests were greeted by this whimsical decoration, and loved it!

The Celebrate Seuss Wreath looks great hanging on a door!

Of course, the wreath is way too cute and fun to just put away because the party is over. It's hanging on Balian's bedroom door, at the moment, until I find a more permanent spot for it to hang in his room. I want everyone to see it- we love it so much! Plus, we were able to show off the super cute Cat in the Hat Print that Katie included in out party package!

I can't wait to get this print into a frame and hung up in B's room!
