Funky Monkey Snacks (Review & Giveaway)

We are a family that loves to snack. Well, I should really say that I love to snack. I'm a big believer in smaller portions at meal times, with little healthy snacks in between. I'm usually hungry for a little snack around 10 am, and then again around 3 pm. I try super hard not to keep junk in the house. I want my family to eat healthy foods, even when snacking.

I've been having a hard time getting Balian to eat much of anything, but he's usually pretty into fruit. He loves apples, bananas, and grapes, so when I came across Funky Monkey Snacks, and saw that they made natural, dried fruit snacks, I knew that I needed to check them out. Funky Monkey Snacks are a line of freeze-dried fruit that are 100% natural, 100% real fruit, and 100% delicious – with 3 servings of fruit in each 1oz bag! We were sent a sampler of seven yummy flavors of Funky Monkey snack packs! The day they arrived, Balian was napping, when the UPS man dropped off the package of snacks. I knew Balian would be hungry when he woke from his nap, so I grabbed a package of Funky Monkey snacks, and had it ready for him, with a cup of milk. Our sampler pack included the following flavors: Applemon, Bananamon, Carnaval Mix, JiveALime, MangOJ, Pink Pineapple and Purple Funk.

We first tried the Bananamon flavor. Balian loves bananas, so I figured he would go for the dried bananas, sprinkled with cinnamon. He was intrigued by the packaging, and when he saw the dried banana chips, he couldn't wait to try them. He happily munched on the Bananamon for the rest of the afternoon, which made me a happy momma.

I asked a friend to try the JiveALime. His opinion was that while the flavor was pretty yummy, he was a little thrown off by the crunchy texture. It was certainly much different than any dried fruit he'd ever tasted before. My dad tried the package of Pink Pineapple, and loved it! He said that other than the fact that he accidentally got a piece of the dried fruit jammed into his gum, he really liked the funky, fruity flavor, and liked the crunch!

We've also enjoyed the Applemon. It's delicious dried apple slices, sprinkled with cinnamon. Balian liked it too, all except the peel. My favorite flavor that I have tried thus far, is the Carnival Mix! It contains yummy pieces of dried apples, papayas, pineapples, and bananas. I gave the banana pieces to Balian (because I am not a banana fan), but I quickly fell in love with the pineapple pieces!

I want to munch on the other flavors, too, but I am being sort of selfish and saving them for a rainy day, or emergency snack situation. I've got two bags left, and they're both in the diaper bag. Since Balian is so fond of these delicious, natural dried fruit snacks, I'm just keeping them on hand, in case we need them while we're on the go!
