Mary Kay with Maria Limperos

I wanted to try something a little bit different this month, though. I often feel that when dealing with skincare or makeup, a live demonstration is nice to see. So, I had my husband shoot a quick video demo with my phone during lunch this week. Now, be forewarned that I am wearing zero makeup in this video, and my hair is sort of crazy frizzy, because I'd spent the morning playing out in the yard with Balian. My hair stands no chance in this NC humidity!

So, as I said in the video, I already owned the Botanical Effects Cleanse for oily skin. I purchased this product from Maria because I really need help keeping my skin clear and oil-free. I have always had excessively oily skin (must be my Italian genes), and though I know that I should love this (because it'll help to cut down on future wrinkles), I can't help but feel self-conscious about it. 

 Botanical Effects Cleanse

The Mary Kay Botaical Effects Cleanse for Oily Skin is just the ticket! It seriously cleanses, gently, but thoroughly, and keeps my skin shine-free all day long! This is a winner in my book! It's affordable, too. A little bit of this goes a long way. I've been using the Cleanse for about two months, and have a little less than half the bottle left. At $14.00, I will be ordering this again soon!

 The Mary Kay Botanical Effects Freshen and Hydrate shipped directly to my door from Mary Kay. It included a couple of samples, and the box greeted me with 'Hello, gorgeous' in print under the lid!

Maria sent me the Botanical Effects Freshen and the Botanical Effects Hydrate to try in correlation with the Cleanse.The Freshen is unlike anything else I have ever tried. I am used to using astringents to cleanse and wipe away dirt and oil at the end of the day. They are harsh, and often leave my skin feeling irritated, and looking all red. The Mary Kay Botanical Effects Freshen is a gentle formula, free of alcohol, fragrance and synthetic dyes. It comes in a 5 oz spray bottle, and it's super easy to use, as I demonstrated in the video. I love how it just lifts the dirt and oil away and leave my skin feeling refreshed. The Freshen is also great   for minimizing the appearance of pores, clarifies skin and helps cleanse pores. It contains a special antioxidant-rich botanical complex, and is hypoallergenic. Dry-outs? Forget about it! My skin hasn't felt dried out at all- it just feels clean, and oil and shine free. The price for the Freshen is also $14.00.

The Hydrate from the Botanical Effects line just might be my favorite product of the three, which is weird of me to say, because I'm not a fan of moisturizers or hydrating products. This Hydrate formula is different, though. It balances out the hydration in my skin, and controls excess oil. It's non-greasy, and provides a nice, matte finish. I started out using this only at night, but now, I love using it in the morning, before I begin a very light makeup routine. It's like a nice primer for my face, and keeps my skin nice and smooth, and shine-free all day long. At $16.00, I feel like I can't afford not to have this secret weapon in my beauty bag!

Botanical Effects Mask

Another great-looking product from the Botanical Effects line from Mary Kay, is the Mask. This looks and sounds like the perfect thing to use maybe once a week, when I do my 'pamper me' night (when I actually give my skin and toenails some extra attention!). I am a big fan of masks, and would definitely love to try this one, as it describes that it helps to cleanse the pores.

The Mary Kay Botanical Effects Skincare line comes in three different formulas:

Dry Skin- 1

Normal Skin- 2

Oily Skin- 3
