Kidfresh (Review & Giveaway)

My son is a picky eater. I should have known from the very early days of his life that this would be the case. Hopefully, he won't be super picky forever, but for now, this is the way things are, and I get the fun task of trying to be creative, introducing different things, and cleaning up big messes of food that's been tossed to the floor.

Since Balian is so picky, I do try to sort of stick to the foods I know he'll eat. He loves chicken, rice, pasta, yogurt, broccoli and fruit. I don't want to constantly be giving him frozen chicken nuggets or boxed mac and cheese, though... and sometimes, it super hard to get my little man to eat some veggies. Lucky for me, and for parents everywhere, there's a great line of fresh foods for kids that are healthy, delicious, and can be found in the frozen foods section of the grocery store!

Kidfresh all started with dad, and Kidfresh founder, Matt Cohen, being tired of the often scary things kids were being fed- foods packed with artificial ingredients. With a desire to offer kids and parents fresh foods, made with all natural ingredients, Kidfresh opened a concept store in NYC. This drew a lot of media attention from around the world, so Kidfresh decided to expand their reach, offering their fresh foods to the public, by freezing them and selling them in grocery stores.

I was so happy to stumble upon Kidfresh, and was excited that Pam, a representative for Kidfresh wanted to send me some coupons for free Kidfresh products, so I could try them with Balian! I received a whole lot of coupons, and lucky for me, I didn't have to go far to find a store that carries Kidfresh products, locally. In the south, Harris Teeter grocery stores have started carrying Kidfresh foods- and there's one just down the closest main road from our neighborhood!

Look at these yummy meals from Kidfresh! Can't wait to try them!

We were allowed to use three of the coupons for our Kidfresh products (that was the store's policy), and that was plenty! We chose to try the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese, Rainbow Rice + Chicken and the Easy Cheesy Ravioli. These all seemed safe, because these are things Balian usually likes, anyway.

Balian is ready to try the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese!

Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese- still frozen, just out of the box...

We decided to try the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese from Kidfresh, first. Balian will usually go for mac and cheese when all else fails, so I wasn't surprised that when I asked him if he wanted to try some new 'Mac-y Cheese' for lunch, he started jumping up and down with excitement! I reached into the freezer and pulled out the box of Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese from Kidfresh, and handed it to Balian. The photo on the box looked so good to B, that he tried to eat the box! Preparation was easy as pie for the Mac + Cheese. I simply removed the microwave safe dish from the box, vented the plastic cover over it, and popped it into our microwave for about three minutes on high. When it was heated through, I mixed it all together in the dish, and waited for it to cool.

Here's the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese fresh out of the microwave. Looked and smelled really good- like I had just made mac and cheese from scratch!

Balian loved the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese, and because he gobbled it all up, I didn't waste any time introducing the other varieties from Kidfresh over the next couple of days. He enjoyed the Rainbow Rice + Chicken (picked out all of the pieces of corn and ate those first!) with no problem. Balian loves rice, and I think he loved that it had yummy bites of chicken, peas, corn and carrots in it! He also felt pretty special, having his own ravioli from Kidfresh! We usually give him the ravioli that we eat, but the ravioli from Kidfresh is much more his speed- in the way of size!

What I love most about Kidfresh, is that these frozen meals are made from all natural ingredients. I can read the back of the box of a Kidfresh meal, and recognize every ingredient listed, and feel good about giving it to my son to eat. Not only that, Kidfresh meals secretly contain pureed veggies- so your kids are getting lots of good stuff without even realizing it! YAY! See, as parents, we can still give our kids the foods they love, while giving them nutritious foods, too!

Reasons to love Kidfresh:

-Great taste kids love: Meals have been tested by kids and approved by picky eaters!
-100% Natural goodness: No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives!
-Hidden veggies: All Kidfresh meals contain hidden veggies that have been smoothly pureed.
-Superior nutrition: Naturally rich in key nutrients.
BPA Free, Green Packaging: Kidfresh simply cares!
Socially responsible: Helping to create positive changes for the kids who need it most!

This momma loves Kidfresh! I love that it's fresh, healthy, natural food that I can grab and take with us on the go- send it to grandma's house, leave it with a note for the babysitter, pop into the microwave when I'm in a hurry, etc. I love that Balian loves Kidfresh, too! I am for just about anything that's good for him, and that he loves to eat. The other thing I love is that I can find Kidfresh in the freezer section of my local grocery store, and I've even seen it sold at the Whole Foods nearest to me.
