Dream Furniture: Paul Frank Toddler Armchair (Review)

Part of Crazy for Babies and Kids Week

One of the best things about watching my son grow up, is seeing him come into his own. He's becoming more and more independent every day, so it's important to me that he have some things that are truly his, and his alone. For the longest time, Balian sat on the floor to watch television in our living room, resting against a back support cushion. When we upgraded to a larger television a few months ago, Balian started standing directly in front of the television, instead of sitting on the floor. I knew how bad that had to be for his little eyes, and tried and tried to get him to either sit on the floor, or sit with me, on the couch. Despite my best efforts, he insisted on standing right in front of the television. I started to wonder- if he had his own little chair to sit in, raised up off of the floor, would it keep him from standing right at the TV?

I started my search for a children's chair online, and actually stumbled across Dream Furniture by accident on Facebook. As I started looking through their page, I saw that they carried adorable children's furniture, so I headed to their website to take a closer look. I searched the Toddler category, and went under chairs, and was pleasantly surprised to find several options. I reached out to George of Dream Furniture, and he gladly agreed to send a product of my choice for Balian to try out.

I was ecstatic for the opportunity to work with Dream Furniture, and knew I would have a hard time deciding on which chair would be best suited for Balian. With all of the cute toddler chairs there are to choose from, I had to have my husband help me narrow it down to one. I loved the sports-themed chairs, which also come with little stools... if we had chosen one of those, it would have been the baseball chair! I wanted to choose something that would live in our living room for now, but would eventually wind up living in Balian's bedroom. So, we decided to go with the Paul Frank Armchair, featuring the lovable character, Julius.

Protected by plastic inside of the box...

It took about one week for the Paul Frank Armchair to make it from California to North Carolina, and we were very excited when it arrived at our house, via Fed Ex! It arrived in a nice square box, which was about fourteen pounds, which meant that I could move it by myself. There was a little picture of Julius the monkey right on the box! I hurried to open it up, and inside, I found the chair. There was nothing to assemble, except to add the four little 'legs' to the base of the chair. These plastic legs quickly and easily screwed right into the bottom of the chair- no tools, and no husband's help required!

This step was super easy for me, a directionally challenged momma!

After the chair was put together and ready to go, I placed it on the floor in the living room, and guided Balian over to it. He checked it out for a minute, and when I asked him if he wanted to sit down in it, he plopped right down on it, and happily kicked his feet, as they dangled. He looked so happy! Now, when he wants to watch a television program, he sits in his chair. He has his own little piece of furniture, and I can tell that he feels like a big boy when he sits in it.

Paul Frank Toddler Arm Chair-
all put together, and ready for a cute little bum to sit in it!

Balian: a little trepidation over sitting in the chair for the first time...

And- he loves it! Didn't take long for him to settle in!

Here's what Balian lounged against before we received the Paul Frank Arm Chair...

Features of the Paul Frank Arm Chair:

  • Single-seater padded with fire-retardant foam
  • Track arms
  • Durable plastic legs and spandex fabric
  • Complementing sofa available
  • Recommended age 2 to 7 years old

Now, Balian is not two years old yet, so I keep a watchful eye on him when he's in his chair. The chair is sturdy, but it can be tipped over, and Balian can also push it, and slide it across our wooden floors. I try to keep it on the carpeted area in the living room, and encourage him to leave it there. The Paul Frank Arm Chair will be a great addition to Balian's room, when we re-decorate it in a 'Cat in the Hat' theme. The colors already match his Cat in the Hat quilt and pillow, almost perfectly!

The Paul Frank Arm Chair would be perfect for a boy or girl, and Dream Furniture offers a few other pieces of Paul Frank Furniture, too, including a Paul Frank Sofa, and a Sofa and Arm Chair Set. Along with the Paul Frank Collection are other styles and beloved brands, like Hello Kitty! Of course, Dream Furniture has way more than just chairs for children- they offer an extensive collection of children's furniture pieces, and even have a complete Bedroom in a Box!

Check out some of my top picks from Dream Furniture:

Hello Kitty Vanity- If they made these for big girls, I think my sister would definitely want this!

Leo- Youth Bedroom in a Box (I love the clean lines!)

Espresso Storage Bin (We definitely need one of these at my house!)

Paul Frank 'Julius' Toy Bin (might be next on my list!)

Everyone in our family has been loving Balian's new Paul Frank Toddler Armchair, thanks to our new friends at Dream Furniture! I am so glad that I found Dream Furniture, because it won't be long before we're ready to re-decorate Balian's bedroom, and he'll definitely be needing some toddler-appropriate furniture in his room. Dream Furniture carries great brands, and their prices can't be beat! I think the Bedroom in a Box concept is genius- takes all the guesswork out of coordinating a furniture set for your little one!
