In the spirit of this weekend being Super Bowl weekend, I figured I'd better share some delicious tips or recipes. I'm not having lots of folks over for the big game, but I'll definitely be wanting to nosh on some super yummy snacks while the game is on (go Giants!). Don't hold it against me- I'm a Jersey girl.

I  was recently introduced to Skillet Bacon Jam. If you haven't heard of it before, I know you're thinking- what the heck is that? Skillet Bacon Jam is a condiment like no other. It's literally spreadable bacon! Oh, yeah! Girls, go grab your fellas, because they are going to want to read this! 

Skillet Bacon Jam is Niman Ranch bacon, which is rendered down, along with yummy onions, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, salt and black pepper. It cooks for several hours, until it's smoky, tangy, savory and just  a little bit sweet- the perfect blend of bacon-y goodness!

My hubby was beyond excited to get to try the Skillet Bacon Jam. We had homemade hamburgers on our dinner schedule, so we figured that would be an excellent way to try the Skillet Bacon Jam. Sacha made up his magical beef patties, threw them on the grill, and I toasted up some buns (Julia Child style with a dab of butter). We started building our burgers, and I spread a pretty hearty knife-full of the Skillet Bacon Jam across each hamburger bun. I expected that the Skillet Bacon Jam would be a huge hit, because my husband thinks everything tastes better with bacon. 

 Mmm... couldn't wait to bite into my burger!

When I bit into my burger, I immediately tasted all of the flavors of the Skillet Bacon Jam. I tasted sweet, tangy, smoky and savory all at the same time. There was a flavor party going on in my mouth! I didn't hear two words out of Sacha while we ate- just some, 'Mmm... MMMmmm's,' which are always a good sign. He is definitely in deep like with the Skillet Bacon Jam. I enjoyed it, as well. I even got a nice little chunk of bacon in my scoop! We'll definitely be using it on burgers again.
