Most people will be planning their New Year's resolutions soon and I am sure many of us have at some time, or will be saying, "my goal is to lose weight". I know I usually try to get back on track come January from all the holiday goodies. I am a fan of our treadmill, I can walk or jog and watch my favorite shows and I also occasionally throw in a workout video.

When it comes to workout videos, I have heard my friends talk about P90X and Insanity but have not personally tried them. I also recently was introduced to Team BeachBody. BeachBody is a fitness company who created P90X, Insanity, and many other home fitness/weight loss solutions. BeachBody also carries a line of nutritional supplements to aid in weight loss and general health.

I worked with Elaine, who is an Independent Team BeachBody Coach. She graciously sent me a 5 day supply of Chocolate Shakeology by BeachBody, Shakeology comes in Chocolate or Greenberry. Shakeology is a meal replacement nutritional shake that contains over 70 healthy, natural ingredients, including Protein and Essential Amino Acids, Prebiotics and Digestive Enzymes, Antioxidants and Phytonutrients, 23 Vitamins and Minerals. By replacing one meal a day with Shakeology, you can lose weight, increase regularity, and have more energy.

I am not a huge morning breakfast person so I was nervous that I wouldn't be wanting a large shake first thing in the morning. I got up and made my shake for Day One. Elaine also sent me a calendar of recipes to use with my Shakeology packets. I chose to make the Chocolate Bee.

My recipe calendar (has 2 sides, chocolate or berry)

Chocolate Bee

(Mix all ingredients in blender until creamy)

1 serving of Chocolate Shakeology
1 tsp honey
1 cup skim milk
ice to taste and thicken shake

I was amazed at how thick and chocolaty the Shakeology was. I could definitely taste the honey from my recipe as well. I was impressed with the quantity of shake in my cup and how full I felt drinking it. I felt full for quite awhile after my shake and did feel more energized. This is a great feeling for a Mommy with 2 crazy kids to chase after. I used the same recipe for all my Shakeology shakes, because we had the ingredients on hand. The Banana Split recipe sounded really yummy too!

According to the BeachBody site, here is how Shakeology works:

According to the BeachBody site, here is what is in Shakeology:

Protein and essential amino acids help build muscles and reduce food cravings.

Antioxidants and phytonutrients help counteract free radical damage that can lead to degenerative diseases.
A daily dose of vitamins and minerals provides your body what it needs to function for optimal health.

While only having a 5 day supply, I didn't see any recordable weight loss, but did have a fuller feeling each day. Each serving, when prepared with 8 ounces of skim milk only, contains 230 calories, 1 gram fat, 20 mg cholesterol, 220 mg sodium, 29 g total carbohydrate, and 26 g protein. It also contains 100% of the daily value for Vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, and Manganese, and 300% of the daily value for Vitamin C.
