The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop Review & Giveaway

Part of our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide

I have a serious sweet tooth. Bad for my waistline, bad for my son who has also developed a sweet tooth, but oh, so yummy in my tummy! I can't help but be drawn to chocolate anything, delicious cakes, cupcakes, pies, candies, beverages and more, more, more! This time of year especially works up my sweet spot appetite. It's probably all those commercials for chocolate kisses, peanut butter cups, pumpkin pies, etc. I definitely get into a baking mode, wanting to make lots of holiday goodies, which I immediately send out of my house so I won't eat them all! Though I make goodies to give away, every now and then, I reward myself with a little something... well, sweet!

Friend to Mommy's Block Party, Jeana Davis owns and operates The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop on Etsy. Jeana is really sweet, and she makes all sorts of yummy treats, which are just perfect for the holidays. Jeana AKA The Sweets Fairy offered to send me some of her holiday goodies to review, and how could I turn her down? Couldn't! Jeana told me that she was sending me some of her homemade cookies, a chocolate caramel covered apple, and some fondant cupcake/cake toppers. I couldn't wait to see how everything looked... and tasted!

The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop package arrived within a couple of days of my being notified of the shipping, which I thought was super fast! I hurriedly opened up the package from Jeana and was so excited to see the package of homemade Snickerdoodle Cookies, along with the apple and the cupcake toppers.

All of my yummy goodies from The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop...

I decided to go for the snickerdoodle cookies first, as they were the easiest to access. The cookies were contained in an adorable holiday themed cello bag. I poured myself a fresh cup of coffee and sat down with a couple of cookies to do a little afternoon 'blog work.' The cookies were so, so good! With hints of cinnamon and other spices, my taste buds were absolutely dancing! I enjoyed them so much that I allowed my husband to taste one of them, and then I gobbled up the rest within a couple of days!

Check out this delicious plate of Snickerdoodle Cookies!

Next up, I went for the apple. Now, Jeana warned me that the apple was huge, and she wasn't kidding! Look at the picture! The apple was covered in a layer of gooey caramel, dipped in chocolate and then rolled in thinly sliced almonds. I sliced a large chunk off of the end of the apple to start with, and then cut it into slices from there. I can't even begin to tell you how delicious the apple was! The apple was still fresh and crunchy, just the way I like my apples... and the coatings stayed on the apple, even after slicing! That meant that every bite of apple was still covered as it entered my mouth! You can imagine how happy that made me! Sacha ditched the apple and just went for the coating, and Balian ate his leftover apple bites, all diced up. The apple was absolutely enjoyed by the entire family. I'm not too familiar with chocolate covered apples, but I've seen gourmet apples on QVC a lot lately, and I have to tell you, the apple that I received from The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop looked way better than those pricey ones you can buy on TV! It was too yummy for words!

Apple all wrapped up... love the cute ribbon!

Gorgeous looking apple... just look at all of those almonds!

Okay, seriously... look how thick the coating on this apple is!

Lastly, I was to review the fondant toppers. These were all hand-crafted by Jeana, herself... and they were absolutely adorable. She sent me a snowman, a gingerbread man, a tree, a stocking, a larger snowman, a wrapped present and a candy cane. Sacha helped me bake a batch of cupcakes on Sunday night, and I frosted them, and added some holiday sprinkles, just to be festive.

Here's what we ended up with (I took lots of pictures)...

How adorable is this fondant snowman!?

Stockings, and trees and presents! Too cute for cupcakes!

Say hi to frosty and the gingerbread man...

 Cute additions to my cupcakes...

 Pictures making you hungry? :)

Group photo of cupcakes and toppers...

I was so pleased with the way the cupcakes turned out! We took them with us to a musicians rehearsal at church, and they were a big hit! I posted some pics to my FB page, and all of my FB friends were asking if I made the toppers. I wish! I'm not that skilled, and I was happy to tell them that they came from The Sweets Fairy Bakeshop!

Along with these goodies that I tried, Jeana (The Sweets Fairy) makes toppers and treats for all occasions! Try some of her toppers for Valentine's Day, Easter, summer time, fall, Halloween, Christmas, etc. They'd also be wonderful for birthday parties, showers, house warming parties and more! And how about those apples? Wouldn't they make amazing party favors?
