Since Balian has gotten a little older, I often find myself looking for adorable shirts for him. You know, I have to put him in as much cutesy stuff as possible before he realizes what's happening and vows to never let mommy dress him again. I really wanted Balian to have a birthday shirt. Something fun that expressed he was turning a year old. I wasn't sure of exactly what I was looking for, but I knew I wanted a birthday shirt, so I went to Etsy and started looking through birthday shirt listings. There were so, so many of them! I was almost overwhelmed by my choices. I even left my search open for a day or two as I combed through them all! Finally, one shop's listing caught my eye, and I decided to contact the owner about our birthday bash.
Lori Hammond owns the sweet little shop Happytown Embroidery, and was happy to send us a shirt to review for Balian's 1st birthday. I knew the shirt that Lori was going to send to me, which looked quite adorable in the picture: brown short sleeved T-shirt, with a cute little party monkey and a big number one on it, saying 'It's my birthday!', along with a personalized name. I couldn't wait to see the shirt in person, though! Lori was so sweet to work with, and she checked in with me several times before she mailed the shirt off to me. She even suggested a size (2T) to ensure that it would fit my little big boy. I really appreciated her help and guidance, because oftentimes with your first child, you have no idea what size to stick them in!
The turnaround for the shirt from inquiry to arrival was lickity-split! Lori's usual turnaround at Happytown Embroidery is 10 days, which for a personalized item, is super fast! When the package from Happytown Embroidery arrived, it was all wrapped up and sealed in a nice plastic bag, and folded very nicely, too (I love to fold clothes- and love a freshly folded garment!). I removed the cotton shirt from the package, and was just in awe of how much better it looked in person! It looked super cute when I saw the picture of the shirt, but super duper cute in person. The colors were so vivid and fun! I couldn't wait for Balian to wear it and for everyone to see it. I did give the shirt a little pre-wash in cold water, and dried it on the lowest setting of my dryer... it washed and dried like a dream- there were no problems whatsoever.
Balian's 1st Birthday Shirt from Happytown Embroidery...
There are many reasons why I love this shirt from Happytown Embroidery! It's a super soft shirt, and the underside of the embroidered design is covered with a fabric guard to protect sensitive skin. Balian loved wearing this shirt! The bright colors and the adorable monkey kept him pawing at the shirt while he had it on. I think this design is awesome, and it incorporates everything you'd want in a 1st birthday shirt, including the child's name, the birthday number, text and an adorable graphic. This shirt is available in many sizes and in other designs, too... you can get a giraffe instead of the monkey- or get them both! This shirt matched the party theme so well, too! I couldn't have asked for a better shirt for Balian!
We debuted the birthday shirt from Happytown Embroidery at Balian's birthday party, and our friends and family were in love with it! Balian looked absolutely adorable in his shirt, and kept it on from party start to finish. The ladies, of course, were swooning over his cute shirt, and even the guys thought it was pretty darn cool!

The shirt from Happytown Embroidery fit Balian really well. He was able to move about in it, freely- yet it wasn't too loose. After the party, I washed it and cleaned it and it was ready for him to wear it again on his actual birthday, which he did.
