Grief Anniversaries

Grief anniversaries can be some of the quietest and heaviest days of the year. They sneak up on you. The calendar remembers even when you don’t want it to. Twelve years ago, we adopted our cat Sara to help us deal with the loss of our dog. Today is the anniversary of his passing. Sara was 12 weeks old when we got her and unfortunately, she passed away just two weeks ago. I'm an empty nester so grief has been steady the last few weeks. I'm hoping that this blog will reach you if you are struggling too.

Grief anniversaries are strange. You might wake up feeling off before you even realize why.
The date sits quietly on the calendar, but your heart already knows. Some days, the grief feels loud. Other days, it's a soft ache that follows you through ordinary moments. You may smile today. You may cry. You may do both within the same hour. There is no right way to carry grief. There is only your way.

So today, be gentle with yourself.
Say their name.
Remember the love.
Honor the life that mattered.
Because grief anniversaries
aren't just about loss…
They're about love that never left.
