I am loving the beautiful spring we have been having. The temperatures have been mild, yet warm, and we have seen a good amount of rain, which means that the flowers are now in full bloom. As we look to summer, I am getting my inspiration boards ready for those late spring and early summer projects. I don't always take a lot of time for myself- you know, to do those things that I enjoy most? I'm a mom, first and foremost, but I also have hobbies and interests. Among those hobbies and interests are gardening, cooking, and home decorating.

This spring, I am spending some time relaxing and working on projects I enjoy. It's not hard to find fabulous inspiration to put a little 'spring' in your step. One of the best places to start is right within the home, taking care to spruce it up and take part in a bit of spring cleaning.

Check out a few of my Spring Cleaning Tips...

-Use a sprinkle of baking soda on your carpets. Let sit for about 15 minutes, and the vacuum it up for a true clean.

-Create your own room spray with ¼ cup vodka, 1 cup water, 15 drops lavender essential oil, 10 drops tea tree essential oil, and 5 drops eucalyptus essential oil in a spray bottle. This is a non-toxic mix that you can use to spray on bedding, or to remove odors from other areas of your home.

-Freshen drapes, rugs, throw blankets and heavy bedding by hanging them outside on a sunny day.

-Use a mixture of vinegar and warm water to was your windows and mirrors.

-Use vinegar and baking soda to remove tough stains from the toilet bowl.

-Clean your shower or other counters/tile surfaces with a mixture of vinegar, baking soda and Dawn.

You can also freshen your home by freshening up the paint. Add lighter colors, or add a fresh coat of paint to give the room a nice new and clean look. 

Add mirrors to reflect light, which will make any room feel larger than it actually is.

Adding fresh or faux greenery or florals to a room will give it a fresh, airy feel.

Get outside!

If you have a porch or patio, plan to make use of it this spring and summer. Spruce up your space by sweeping away any remaining leaves or debris that may have collected over the winter months. You might even want to hose off or pressure wash your porch floor or concrete patio. 

Give patio furniture a wash to rinse away the dirt, pollen, etc. You can give old furniture new life by painting it or staining/sealing it.

Use an outdoor area rug to section off a seating area. Conversation pieces and outdoor accents will create a focal point and welcome guests to your home.

Even the smallest spaces can be made to look lovely with a set of bistro chairs, a small table, and some fresh flowers.

Give your home a little curb appeal. Take a look to see if any outdoor repairs need to be made. Does the fence need new paint? Do you need to work on the landscape? Pull out or cut back any plants that are dead and you don't see new growth on. Trim bushes and hedges, and pull weeds from the garden. Add fresh and vibrant annuals to flower beds, or plant perennials that will come back year after year, offering gorgeous color all summer long.

Take a break!
