The backpacks are officially tossed aside, lunchboxes are sitting empty on the counter, and summer break has finally arrived in the Witt house!
Today marked the last day of school for our kids, and this mama heart is feeling all the emotions. Our oldest wrapped up 9th grade, and our middle babe finished 4th grade. Watching them walk through this school year with determination, resilience, and hard work has made their dad and me incredibly proud. Both kids scored high on their end-of-grade tests, and seeing their efforts pay off feels like the perfect way to close out the school year.
There’s something special about the last day of school. It feels like freedom, possibility, sunshine, late bedtimes, pool days, family adventures, and a little extra breathing room after months of packed schedules and early mornings. As parents, we spend so much time helping our kids push through homework, projects, practices, and stressful testing days. When they reach the finish line, it deserves to be celebrated.
So tonight, we’re doing exactly that.
The kids get to pick the restaurant, we’re raising our glasses to an amazing school year, and we’re kicking off summer break with good food, laughter, and lots of excitement for the memories ahead. These are the moments I want my kids to remember — not just the grades and achievements, but the feeling of being celebrated, encouraged, and deeply loved.
Summer, we are READY for you.
