How to Remain Healthy While Camping

Does being stuck inside throughout the duration of the working week constantly make you clamber for a taste of the great outdoors? Are you sick of the artificial lighting in your office space and have an urge to get out there and soak up some real light? If so, as soon as the weekend rolls around once again, you should resolve to go camping. Getting closer to Mother Nature could be the exact tonic you need to help you deal with the stresses of adult life. There are many stunning campsites to visit that you should not miss out on too.

Camping is a very healthy pastime to indulge in. This does not, however, mean that you should forget to tend to your wellbeing while you are out enjoying your outdoor adventure. There are plenty of aspects of camping that, when given half a chance, will have a detrimental impact on your health.

To ensure that you remain as healthy as possible during your next camping trip, be sure to heed the advice laid out below.

Pack a lot of water
Hydration is essential at all times, but it is especially important when you’re outside, and the sun is beating down on you. It is for this reason that you must remember to pack a lot of water when you embark on your camping trip. As water can be quite heavy to carry, it might be a good idea for you to invest in a filtered water bottle. Provided that the water you filter comes from a fresh spring, this will allow you to remain hydrated while you are out exploring the surrounding areas of your campsite.

Protect your eye health
If you’re not careful, exposing yourself to copious amounts of campfire during your camping experience could have a detrimental effect on your eye health. This might not be the first health risk that comes to mind, but being subjected to smoke consistently over the course of a number of days could result in your eyes drying out, which could then lead to you having problems with your tear production and vision. To protect your health and wellbeing, it is recommended that you only spend time by the campfire when you absolutely need to. If you want to take this preventive measure a step further, you should consider wearing protective eyewear whenever you spend extended periods of time by the smoke.

Should you experience problems with your vision or tear production as a result of extended exposure to the campfire, fear not as there are dry eye treatments out there for you to try. Be sure to check out See & Be Seen Eyecare to see what options you have available to you.

Cook your meats properly

If you find yourself barbecuing food over your campfire, it’s essential that you cook your meats through properly. Failing to do so could result in you and your party coming down with severe food poising. To ensure that you cook your meats properly, simply exercise a bit of patience. Keep cooking until you think the food is ready, and don’t throw all of your wood onto the fire at once.
