Would You Switch? Tidy Tots + Giveaway

Thank you to Tidy Tots for providing me with a fantastic Great Start Set to try with my family! All opinions are 100% my own. This post may contain affiliate links.

Cloth diapering can be a bit of an unknown frontier for some Moms. I've been there. In fact, as some of you know, I had tried another brand (unnamed) of cloth diapers in the past and I had a bit of a rough go at it. I got the opportunity to try a cloth diapering system by Tidy Tots recently and I'm so glad I tried again. They have restored my faith in the world of cloth diapered babies!

First, why would anyone want to cloth diaper a baby??? Well, a lot of noble reasons actually. Here, I will list a few:

1. COST: Sure, you will have an initial investment in your cloth diapering system, but over time... it totally saves you money and pays for itself. Imagine never having to buy diapers again. 😱 Tidy Tots estimates that from birth to potty training, using a Tidy Tots cloth diapering system will save you over $1500. That's significant!

2. WASTE: So, I know that everyone is not a "tree hugger" (is that even a legitimate term anymore?) - but I'm going to assume that we all feel love for our little planet Earth and would like to reduce waste going into landfills. Disposable diapers are awful for the environment. It takes 500 years for one disposable diaper to decompose! That is ridiculous. And how many diapers do we go through in a day? I don't want to think about it.

3. FASHION: Yes, on a less serious note (although some take fashion very seriously), cloth diapers are fashionable in baby fashion terms. Baby Posh, if you will. You can pick some pretty cute prints and they look so comfy and adorable on those chubby little legs!

4. HYPOALLERGENIC: Some babies are very sensitive to synthetic materials. Tidy Tots diapers use an Organic Hemp Blend to create their diapers and boosters. That means you know what is actually touching your baby's skin all day and all night.

Ok, so I love all of those reasons for using cloth diapers and the 500 year thing freaks me out. Now, keeping it real, what are some of the drawbacks of cloth diapering... well, it's the poop. Nobody wants to deal with poop. I understand. Tidy Tots understands too. They sent me these handy dandy little Flushies Secure liners (see above picture) to secure inside the diaper so that when the poop appears, you just throw the liner away (or flush it). The liner is made from cornstarch and is biodegradable. Fantastic. Poop problem solved.

Another issue with cloth diapering is that the actual diaper or booster can bunch up or slide around. Again, Tidy Tots to the rescue. Their system has snaps that secure the actual diaper and booster so that they don't slide around. Genius! (I told you I'm impressed by these, right?...there's more...)

So, here is the easy 1, 2, 3 of how to use these awesome diapers:

Step 1: Insert the booster into the hemp diaper for extra absorbency. This is an optional step actually.
Step 2: Snap the diaper into the cute diaper cover.
Step 3: Ta-da. You're done. Saddle up the baby.

Here is a side by side of one diaper without a Flushie liner and one diaper with a Flushie liner! Easy peasy. If you want to watch a quick step by step video, click here.

Sam the man - 4 months old, chillin' in his Dinotastic Tidy Tot diaper
One of the most awesome things about the Tidy Tots system is that you can use the same diapers on any size baby. Seriously. My son is 4 months old (granted, he is a LARGE 4 month old...) and my daughter is 22 months! They can both easily fit into these diapers with no trouble.

Notice I had to hold her leg to take a picture before she ran off...
All in all, I highly recommend giving Tidy Tots a try. They make cloth diapering easy. You literally just throw them in your washing machine - you don't have to disassemble the booster etc. - and you can hang them to dry or throw them in the dryer. No big deal.

Final thoughts: One disposable diaper. 500 years. That is all.

  2. This is such a cool giveaway! I’ve never seen this system before but it is genius that the booster tucks into the insert. I’m always carefully sliding boosters out when I need to spray diapers to avoid having them fall into the toilet.

    1. Booster tucks in, but even better - no unstuffing required! They are designed to have the boosters agitate out in the laundry. In 3.5 years of using them I've never had one not come out by itself.
