Yummy Blueberry Jam #tastytip

This jam making is all new to me, but I have fallen in love with it and the results!  It all started when a friend of mine posted on Facebook that she had made Strawberry Jam.  I commented on it and she brought me a jar to school the next day.  I had finished my lunch and wanted a bite of something sweet, so I opened the jar and took a bite!  Oh my goodness...I could have eaten the entire jar with a spoon.  I immediately messaged her and told her how amazing it was and she said it was so easy to do and we could have a jam making day.  We did and it was so fun and easy.  Since that day, we have gotten together twice to make Strawberry Jam and I have made Blueberry Jam twice at home on my own.  If I can do it, anyone can.
The recipe comes from the box of Sure Jell.  We follow that and add our own little tweaks in from time to time.  I love this Blueberry Jam on toast in the morning.  I don't have it every morning but it sure is a treat to start my day when I do.  I really enjoy making the jam and have made enough that I am using them as Christmas gifts.  Who wouldn't love a beautiful jar of homemade jam?  I can't wait to give them out to my family and friends this year!

Soaking the blueberries.

Drying on paper towels.

Sterilizing my canning jars.

The blueberries are blended and ready to cook.

This is the Sure Jell that you use for jams and jellies.

Sugar and butter added.

Jam is in the jars cooling!

Clean blueberries and have jars and lids sterilized and ready to go.

Ingredients:
5 cups of blueberries (should have 3 cups after you have mashed them)
5 1/4 cups of sugar
Butter
1 pck. Sure Jell

1.  Use dry measuring cup to measure exact amount of blueberries into a large pan.  Add exact amount of sugar and let stand for 10 minutes.  Bring this mixture to boil while stirring constantly.  Add 1 pkg. Sure Jell and 2 tsp. butter.  Bring to boil on high heat, stirring constantly.  Boil for 1 minute and remove from heat.  Fill all your jars immediately, leaving 1/2 inch space at top.  Let stand at room temperature for 24 hours.  You will hear the lids popping when they seal.  This recipe makes about 7 cups.

Let me know if you give this yummy recipe a try and if you enjoy it!!  We sure do love it in my house.  I can't wait to try to make jams with other fruits.
