Having some fun with SmartGames!#review #giveaway

Aiden is helping me with this review because this box was all for him.  He gets so excited when we received something to review that is kid friendly and this is a box of fun for kids.  "This is the best box ever,"  says Aiden as he opens the box from SmartGames.

I enjoyed watching him take each game out and look at it to see what it was all about.  I was excited about all of these games because they are one player games and they will really make him think to play them.  Shh...don't tell him that!  I also like that they can go with us in the car.  Aiden loves to play games, whether on the iPad or a good old fashioned board game.  He really loves the IQ Puzzler.  This one will keep you busy for a long time.  There are so many puzzle combinations and it takes a while to figure them out.  I started out on the floor with Aiden as he was working with this one.  I did a couple, but to be honest I couldn't keep up.  He was very proud of the fact that he was better at this than me.  He can't wait to take it to the beach at Thanksgiving to show his cousins.  He also really likes the Dinosaur game.  This is the same concept except you have to design the Dinosaur islands in different ways.  There are over 80 combinations and it's not easy to figure them out (for me anyway). Aiden worked on this game in the car on the way to the beach over Labor Day.  It kept him quiet for close to an hour.  You will definitely want to check out all the wonderful games that SmartGames has to offer.  The great thing is...they aren't just for kids!!

A little information about SmartGames....

Play SmartGames anywhere, anytime, no opponent needed. Although SmartGames are designed to play alone, it’s also great fun to solve our brain-teasing challenges together.
A SmartGame is developed with easy storage in mind. There is nothing worse than to loose pieces of your favorite SmartGames, so we develop storage compartments or use part of the packaging.

The challenge is to find a game that is in line with the existing SmartGames, but still is distinctive enough. We want to create something that feels familiar and meets expectations while being brand new and surprising.
This year we went ‘back to basics’ like never before: creating thinking games with simple game rules. In this way, while playing, you can focus entirely on the game.
One of the most important aspects of our work is choosing the right combination of game rules and game components. We sublimate all possibilities until we have found the ideal mix of both that brings out the essence of the game.
Lots of people get discouraged by a challenge which looks too complex. But a game containing only 4 or 5 puzzle pieces is much more appealing to them, because: “How hard can that be?”.
Using few game parts makes it possible to make a very attractive game by having more room for attractive materials and print techniques. In the end the quality of the parts are far more important than their quantity.
This systematical choice for quality is retrieved in every phase of the product development. From the choice of the concept over the selection of the challenges to the graphical design of the packaging and the booklet: every detail is processed with lots of care. Also the testing of the games by children and adults is an important factor. Their feedback contributes to get all challenges in the good order from easy to difficult. But, the most important thing we find out with these test-rounds is whether a game is ‘fun’. Because that is the reason why we design games and toys. Therefore we truly hope you will enjoy playing SmartGames as much as we enjoyed developing them!
