Happy Wednesday! I hope you had a fabulous 4th of July weekend. Ours was good, though B and I were both fighting colds. B and I enjoyed the day at home on the 4th, while Sacha worked. We made plans to join Sacha's family later in the afternoon for a family cook out, and to go watch fireworks together.

Our actual 4th of July was much less eventful than the last 4th of July, when my dad wound up in the ICU for several days after serious blood loss. That was definitely not a fun way for any of us to spend the 4th of July. We had a great time with our family this year, and B loved his very first fireworks show! Though he thought the fireworks were loud, he sure loved the way they looked! We stayed out until almost midnight, and crashed when we got home. We had so much fun visiting with extended family after the fireworks show, having snacks, and playing with pop rocks, glow sticks, and sparklers (for the older kids).

On Saturday morning, we learned that Sacha's Granie passed away earlier that morning. Granie was Sacha's Great Grandmother, making her B's Great, Great Grandmother. She was 102 years old. We were sad to learn that she had passed away, but at 102 years old, knew what a full life she lived, and we knew she was ready to go home to the Lord. We feel very blessed to have been able to see Granie, and visit with her just last month, when we visited TN for a few days. She was still able to semi-walk by herself, and carry on a conversation. It touched my heart to see her light up when she saw B, and when he spoke with her. I didn't know Granie for very long, really just the past 10 years, but I know that she was a strong woman of God, who raised a wonderful family. Granie was so very proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, was able to be with us at our wedding and process with the grandmothers, in 2007. We knew how proud she was when B was born, and how happy she was to be a Great, Great Grandmother! We will cherish the times we spent with her, and she will be greatly missed.

The rest of our weekend was pretty quiet. My wonderful hubby helped my mom install a new mailbox at my parents house on Sunday afternoon, and we're just trying to get through the rest of this week, as we count down to vacation time... 5 days to go!
