Music to Our Ears...

He did it! Sacha impressed us with a wonderful recital on Monday night at UMD. He selected fun, challenging pieces that we all really enjoyed listening to. We're all very proud of him for putting so much hard work into his playing and growing as a musician these past two years. The recital lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes, and featured piano accompaniment and a trombone quartet with Sacha's trombone studio. After the recital, we hung around and took photos, and then headed to IHOP for a very late supper. Here are a few pics from after the recital...

Day in DC

This is probably surprising to most, since we live so close by- but Sacha and I never go to into DC. We never have the time, which is a shame b/c there are so many great places to go in DC. We spent most of the day down there yesterday (Monday, the 11th) and really had a lovely time. The weather was gorgeous- sunny, and in the mid 70's. The gardens were in full bloom and really beautiful just to walk through. We went to the Hirschorn Museum (art), and then had a light lunch at the Chop House Brewery, and then made our way to the Portrait Museum, which is way too huge to see the entire thing. Stopped by Tangy Sweet to share some yummy fro-yo before hopping the Metro back to College Park. All in all, we had a most enjoyable day. Here are some pics from yesterday (Smithsonian Garden outside the Castle)...

Baby Love

I couldn't resist posting this, because it's all just so darn cute! Richard came by last night to visit and take us out to dinner. He came with flowers and a gift for little 'LB' in hand. BTW- we're calling baby Witt 'LB' for a few more weeks...until we know the gender. 'L' is for Lillian, and 'B' is for Balian. Anyway, Candy made this adorable stuffed bunny for 'LB' and bunny came along with a copy of The Tale of Peter Rabbit

It's amazing how you can love someone you've never even met SO much! We're definitely all filled up with baby love. :) Mom found the fabric she was looking for to make 'LB's' Noah's Ark quilt.  The baby's room is a very light sage green color (already painted that color in the new rental house in Salisbury), so we figured we'd play on that with green, brown and pastel accents...and a few Noah's Ark things here and there. Can't wait to get moved into the new house and decorate the nursery. Counting down the days- it won't be much longer!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Ah...the sweet feeling of lightness and weightlessness! That's right- after not having had a hair cut in well over a year, I finally got it cut yesterday! Okay- so it's nothing major, but to some people, saying goodbye to two inches of hair is a big deal. Alright, it wasn't a big deal to me at all. After not having straightened my hair in who knows how long, I decided to straighten it yesterday...just to see how long it had gotten. You can't really tell how long it is when it's curly. I was flabbergasted! It was long- WAY TOO LONG! So, we scooted up to Arundel Mills and I got it cut...it's the only place I trust around here. I don't have $60 to spend on a great hair cut, and Hair Cuttery seems to screw my hair up EVERY TIME I GO THERE! So, Master Cuts it is from now on. No - it's nothing awesome or spectacular, but it makes me feel better...and anything that makes a pregnant gal feel better about herself is well worth it in my book.

Feelin' Bumpy...

Well, since this whole pregnancy thing is very new to me, I've definitely had that 'Is there anything in there?' feeling. I mean...we've all seen the ultrasound, so yeah...I know someONE is in there. Some days I feel preggo and some days, not so much. A couple of weeks ago, a definite bump began to emerge, and is continuing to grow. That's a great feeling- because it leaves us KNOWING that baby 'LB' Witt is growing. I have a check up with my O.B. in Salisbury next week, and am looking forward it. Who thought that going to the OBGYN would ever be this exciting!? I wish Sacha could be there with me, but he has to stay here in MD, as his work and school schedule begins to wind down. I'll have my momma with me at my appt., though...and that makes me happy- probably makes her ecstatic! Here are a couple of pictures of our little 'bumpy' from last week:

Yeah, and please completely ignore my face.

Bumpy from the side...

We're gearing up for an exciting long weekend. Sacha's big graduate recital is coming up on Monday, April 12th, and we'll have family here for that. Richard, Ted, Velma, Gretchen, Heidi and Diane are all coming to the recital and to spend some time with us. I'm sure we'll have a great weekend visiting, sightseeing in DC, yummy food, and listening to Sacha's performance. We're all so proud of him- he works so hard between school and work...I love that man. :) I'll be sure to take lot's of pictures and post an update next week sometime- though I have a feeling I'll be mighty busy! More later. Stay tuned...

Easter Sunday 2010

We enjoyed the Easter services at Ft. Myer, VA on Sunday morning. We were up and out of the house very early and I was sick before leaving...felt a little better as the day wore on (glad I stuck those jelly beans in my purse!). Anyway, after services, we came home, Eric joined us for lunch and afternoon conversation and that was pretty much the extent of our day. It was nice just to be home together for an afternoon. Here are a few pictures from Sunday:

Easter Dinner 2010

Well, we did the traditional ham and green bean casserole last year & pretty much had to do it all after we got back from VA. We were starving by the time dinner was actually ready...and pregnant me can't be starving. :) This year, I wanted to do something a little easier that I could just throw into the crock pot and not have to worry about. Everything should be mostly ready by the time we get home- and with the Cherry Blossom Festival going on this weekend, who knows how long that will take! I'll do a little prep work tonight and will be ready to EAT when we get home tomorrow. Our friend Eric will be joining us for dinner this year, and offered to bring dessert (he's a great cook!). Here's what's on the menu for tomorrow:

Appetizers:

Fresh Veggies & Dip
Crostini w/Parmesan Butter
Crostini w/Pesto

Salads:

Caesar or Cobb
Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil

Main Meal:

Creamy Italian Chicken w/Cheese Tortellini
Italian Vegetables

Dessert:

Red Velvet Bread Pudding

Oh, Baby!

Well, by now everyone knows that we're expecting a baby! :) Little 'LB' is expected to arrive on, before or after October 5th. If s/he does happen to be born on October 5th, s/he'll share a birthday with Connor! October is a big family and friends birthday month...so why not add another one?

Sacha and I are thrilled, of course. We found out on February 11, just after we had been trapped inside for days from the gigantic winter snow storm that hit DC! We had a wonderful appt. with our OB in Salisbury- Dr. Pitson seemed so pleased by how good our little bean looked. We were expecting to see a blurry little spot from the ultrasound, but this is what we got:

...baby Witt looks like a baby! Here s/he is at 11 weeks. We just moved into the second trimester this week, which means we're on week 14! I am starting to feel much more energized, and am even sprouting a little bump. I'll head back to Salisbury for my next appt. on April 14th. I'm excited to see how much s/he has grown and hopefully hear the heartbeat.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday- I'll update a little more then, and will hopefully have some pics of Sacha playing at the army base to share!

MORE BABY WITT PICS:

So excited! Sacha looks nervous. :)

Aye, it be true!

And not that anyone really wants to see the belly, but just in case anyone's curious...here we are at about 12 1/2 weeks. I had to take it myself. :/
